I’ve been waiting for this one! Nice to hear that there’s a new scan. And a new interview with Paris Hilton is definitely a selling feature for me! I’m excited to hear about the rest of the extras.

Here's a sentence I never thought I'd say: "I really like that horror movie remake with Paris Hilton and Chad Michael Murray"

This is really more of a remake of Tourist Trap than the movie whose title it bears.

It's one of a slew of classic horror updates that flooded theaters in the 2000s, throwaway Friday night fare when I was in HS. This one got a lot of excessive heat because of the casting of Paris Hilton.

Nevertheless, there was something about this one that prompts me to want to give it a second chance. I bet current reviews will treat it more favorably than the contemporary ones when it was released.

Where do you see a new interview with Paris? I just see "extras tba". Although I'm sure she probably would do one, not like she's doing anything else lately.

Never saw the original, but the remake was just awful. None of the characters were remotely likable and the story is a mess with some disgusting deaths. The
[Show spoiler]face-peeling
scene in particular was needlessly barf bag-inducing. And of course, Paris Hilton can't act her way out of a wet paper bag with directions on it.

Chad (allegedly) cheated on Sophia Bush with Paris during the filming. Didn't help their, or the film's reputation considering Sophia was kind of America's sweetheart at the time.

Oh good, the movie always looked drab in prior releases, so a new transfer was needed. Just wish they did that for 13 Ghosts, and Ghost Ship.

I actually only realized this past weekend that I still have the original blu ray release. It had been on my shelf the whole time but I had always assumed I'd gotten rid of it years ago. I'll hold off watching it again til I trade up.

I remember this being plenty terrible. But I'm tempted to give it a rewatch.

I remember the same, but it was from a time when hadn't yet seen a lot of bad horror movies. I've seen a lot of terrible ones since then (and have even learned how to appreciate even the bad ones), and I'm fairly certain this will compare favorably to them.

When I saw this, I was going to jokingly say something like “LOL, I wonder if they’ll get a new interview with Paris Hilton! LOL” but holy shit, they really did it. I wonder how easy that was to pull off. I know she’s not as tabloid huge as she was 15 years ago, but I still think it’s a big deal. Her star power and notoriety is really what drove this film’s reputation when it came out. I mean... one if its taglines was “See Paris die on May 6.” So it is kinda necessary to get her participation. I hope it’s a long and extensive interview, and this movie has officially gone from “I doubt I’ll ever pick it up” to “I’ll probably get this.”

And no, this film has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the Vincent Price House of Wax, outside the title and wax museum setting. I don’t even consider it a remake. Maybe on paper it is, but it’s really just another film with the same title. It’s about as loose as the Prom Night remake.

And I kinda like that we’re having a sort of reckoning with these 2000s horror remakes now that enough time has past and they’re no longer in the mainstream consensus. We get to really assess which ones were good, and which ones weren’t.

Probably the right time too, because you just know some studio is itching to remake them all yet again.

I remember most of the cast from their TV shows in the early 2000s. Like you, I've seen plenty of good and bad horror movies since then. I can better appreciate the bad efforts as well.

Totally agree with this! To be fair, I tend to like the 90s/00s vibe of these remakes (though I fully realize some of them are...not good ), but I think they're getting reappraisals now that they wouldn't haven even a few years ago. I'm excited to see films like House of Wax getting releases like this! I know I'll be buying.

I'd listen to a commentary track with Paris Hilton on House of Wax. That's hot!

I've always liked this film and I own the Warner Bros. Blu-ray, and I'm all in for Scream's release. Bring it on!

It can't be worse than that godawful Black Christmas 2019 remake at least. Or the 2008 Prom Night remake.

What a pos that film is.

I'd love a Scream Blu-ray of the 2006 Black Christmas.
