Thumbs down Wow AVS on MS pay pocket

Haven't been there for a while, but now they have a HD download section on the HD part of the forum . If you can't beat them, well dont join them i guess. It is really sickening to see something like that. I mean i had my doubts, but this just comfirms it.

It's not a forum, it's a new thread that has been stickied on the main HD media forum.

Pretty pathetic, but when the organ grinder wants the monkey to promote downloads then they have to start dancing.

Edit: just to add the confirmation if any of you had doubts:

What format battle Mr. Rubin? Downloads Vs. DVD I presume as downloads certainly do not compete with Blu-ray in quality or features.

Rubin is a tool. AVS is bought and paid for by M$. End of discussion.

Sheesh. Another one.

We have been completely wrong. We were never fighting HD DVD supporters. Apparently we are fighting some coordinated opinion pushing agenda.

I could care less what AVS is now trying to promote. What a waste of Cyberspace. M$ true intentions are now transparent, yet some wish to ignore it. Whatever!

Microsoft the worlds first cloned Apple. Although it's not nutritious and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth unlike the real thing.

And if downloads don't fly, it'll switch again. Remember, Microsoft owns the office (and is slowly losing it, thank you linux), but they want to own the living room too. They've got the 360 for games, but they still need to get checks for movies and music somehow (sorry Zune). MS doesn't get royalty checks for DVDs or Blu-ray, so that means something MS controls needs to replace them both. They might get something for discs authored with VC-1, but that'd be it, and it's clearly not enough (expect VC-1 to be the favorite blu-ray codec on AVS).

Fortunately downloads are a far weaker opponent.

There are no standards.
And almost no set-tops, at this point.

We're talking here about a bunch of companies trying to become iPod/iTunes dominant. But, somewhere people have failed to notice that CD still has 70% of the market. Despite the music market being totally dominated by non-CD portable players and docks for those portable players.

Given that the tiny downloads of lossy portable audio is still not even close to CD, where do people get this notion that downloaded HD video could succeed over discs? I fully understand why Microsoft wants it to happen. But, the whole idea is so foolish I am amazed so many people are silly enough to be Microsoft tools.

Ironically, BD-Live is probably the biggest potential for downloads. I wouldn't be surprised if download concepts implemented for that get adopted and used by Sigma Design chips in HDTV. The thing there is it all becomes complimentary. It is about adding choices instead of trying to kill them.

Gary

I notice the thread is old, but wow. Recently it has blown out of proportion. Really no integrity what so ever. I guess is just like a smart man here said.

Some people just want to HATE anything that is related to Sony Corp.
And love anything that is related to Microsoft .

While i do use windows, and it does what i need. I will slowly but surely be moving away from that, as long as my interest are covered by the other side.
