Default Wow, they finally get at AVS

I was over at AVS, and I found a thread that would please all of us over here.

Maybe they finally see the truth.

Edit: Spoke too soon, the trolls have moved in.

I too was tempted to post something, but thought the wiser. What I'm sensing is some panic from the HD-DVD camp, and a bit of desperation. There's no need to post rebuttals, the growing Blu-Ray success in the marketplace will say it all.

Don't you just love how some of the hardcore zealots claim the writing is already on the wall and BD is finished? It really is quite comical.

What exactly doe the zealots think Toshiba has up there sleeves for CES? What trump card do they have to play? I just don't see any. They caught everyone by surprise by announcing the $500 player last year maybe they'll drop the A2 to $199!

Read this thread and see how the HD DVD fans have reacted.

BIGGY has even started another HD DVD vs Blu-ray poll over on AVS right here.

At the very least, everyone on this forum who supports Blu-Ray should get over and cast their vote. If Blu-Ray were to pull ahead, it would be a bit of fun to watch the reactions.

Doby..those people are f'in retarded.

I like the guy that said.."give me a reason to buy into blu ray other than what they will provide in the future."

That had me rolling.

Its like tell me why blu rays better.....but leave out higher disc capacity, more studio support, more hardware support, and the ps3 helping it to push the format....just leave that out.....

hahahah you couldnt....HDDVD is so much better...lmao

I had to stop reading after the post by someone saying that they were disappointed by such lackluster transfers such as Devil Wears Prada.

It's just too funny. I really can't be bothered to think about HD DVD anymore unless I have to do something with it in regards to my site. I had rented Tokyo Drift back when it first came out via netflix and finally sent it back this week. Nearly 3 months. Never powered up the player even once during that time to watch it. Why bother. I'll just wait until I can see it on BD.

Haha! I know it's a sad, sad state of affairs. These guys all think we're clinging to some measure of hope, but I think deep down they know that 2006 is almost over and it's the only year that HD DVD will beat Blu-ray.
Time's up folks. Game over.

Yeah, it got closed yesterday afternoon. I wanted to reply about HD DVD player being twice as cheap as BD player... Irritating. I posted current prices for Sammy and Phillips (like it was difficult to find out on the net), still HD DVD dudes go yacking about j6p won't pay 1000$ for BD. Yeah, I can already see j6ps lining up for 500$ A1 and stripped down A2. XA2 apparently costs 1000$ but those are different 1000$ somehow, making it more appealing to masses...

The new trend in noticing is a bunch of HD-DVD fanatics buying PS3's, then changing their sig's to pronounce they are on both sides and arent fanatics LOL. Its amazing that anyone whos firmly with BD now, either has very little intrest in hd-dvd or buys it because of universal titles. With HD-DVD owners, they are coming to blu-ray in crazy numbers, mainly because of the ps3, movie selection and brighter future. Its all coming together so that there will be maybe 5-6 hd-dvd fanatics left on the forum that arent buying blu-ray players and movies LOL.

Here's one thing I feel the need to stress out.

Some of you are bi-format. Yeah, we know who you are. I suggest that up to CES 2007, you can buy Universal titles or any HD-DVD but past that, no more.

It is important to show Universal that you are voting with your purchases and not online polls or petition. If you keep buying Universal titles and no other, they reap the profits and will drag on their support. If you don't, they'll get the big hint.

For you and those who are thinking of getting a Toshiba or the 360 add-on just to get Universal titles, DON'T! Don't get the hardware ever!

Support the BD studios and their releases.

fuad

PS - by support I mean buy movies on BD that you want to have, for PQ/AQ or because you really love that movie, and not just so that the studios can make money off of ya.

I'm afraid that I disagree with this one.

You can't force the bi-format people to stop supporting both. You're accusing those selected people here for being format-neutral? That's just plain wrong.

The bi-format people should let themselves know and realize on their own if they want to make the switch to Blu-ray. Right now, of all the bi-format here in the Blu-ray.com forum are more leaning to Blu-ray (let's say 60% Blu-ray : 40% HD-DVD or so) so there's no need to impose force just yet.

Bottom line: It's their money and it's their choice on how to use it.....

BUT....
You (and others) can make suggestions/recommendations for them to be Blu-ray only or they can let supply and demand help in their decision (which favors Blu-ray all the way).

However, in the end, it's still their choice. It's their own money and it's up to them on how they would use it.

You have no say on that.

I know I'm harsh but just by reading this statement just made me irritated.

Do you even have control over the decisions of others?

I know that one year after I get my PS3 60 GB and after I get my Wii, I am going to get a 360 add-on once it sells for USD$100 (even if I still think that it's external crap) or if MS releases an internal HD-DVD drive solution.

Or I could let supply and demand determine my decision for my future XBOX 360 purchase.

It's my choice, it's their choice.

It's still far (before we reach 2008) but I would let market forces as well as the laws of supply and demand set the final stone on this (and probably on how the movie studios plan to move their pieces in this war).

If Universal drops HD-DVD support before 2008, then all is favorable. But by 2008, if the only exclusive studio of the 'dark side' doesn't make the switch, then I'm getting the HD-DVD solution from MS and let my PS3 handle all my 10-20 upcoming Blu-ray titles.

Does that mean I'm dropping Blu-ray? Hell no and right now, Blu-ray has 91% of my vote. But the other 9% comes from my fave titles from Universal (Bourne trilogy, The Rundown and Miami Vice to name a few).

If they don't get that 9% to Blu-ray by 2008, then I will buy those Universal titles (even if these are from the other format).

It's my choice. You can't stop me nor anyone else for that matter.

Bakit ka ba nakikialam?
