Smile I finaly turned Blue

I am finaly blue. I got myself a Sony BDP S500. The only blue ray disck I had from Netflix is the movie Twilight Zone. I had to say it did not look that impresive, but I know that must have been the movie. I have a Sanyo LCD projecter (1080i). I don't get HDTV signals so far I have only watched DVD. The audio is a big improvement over what I had. That is why I went with bdp s500 to get high def audio. I have a 7.1 karman hardon avr. It has dolby ex but not high def (no true hd, or hdmi input). My next purchase will be a high def audio avr. I know bdp s500 is capable of much better video than the movie Twilight Zone can deliver. Can't waite to watch some visually cool blue ray. Real glad to blue ( I love to be opposite side of Microsoft).

1080i, Twilight Zone and no HDMI? Sounds about right...

With the quality of the source player and content, it's time to think about tuning your setup. Hit some sites to help calibrate your player and display. It will make a huge difference! There's nothing wrong with 1080i.

Edit: Not a gripe but you turned Blu and it's spelled Blu-ray and spoken, "Blu-ray Disc". Welcome home.

Do you play your receiver with Logic 7 Cinema. This is excellent for audio processing and it is developed by Lexicon. It's up in the air which is better Logic 7 of true hd. Welcome to the blu.

Oops I missed the fact you don't have HDMI so your receiver may not even have Logic 7.

Default coax and optical input

I got logic 7 but I have set it up to Dolby digital. I will try logic 7. From what I remember the karman hardon manual recomended logic 7 driving 7.1 system from a stereo source. But i will look into your advise.

Default Yeah...

Yeah... TZ would NOT have been my first choice - and I'm not surprised you weren't impressed by how it looked.

I'd recommend:
Blade Runner (especially if you were already a fan)
David Gilmour: Remember that Night (esp. if you're a Floyd fan)
Spider-Man1
Reservoir Dogs
Casino Royale

I'm also very happy with Blazing Saddles, Close Encounters, A Christmas Story, Hitchhikers Guide, 300, 2001, and The Usual Suspects.

Welcome to the forum... Be sure to use the Search function as often as possible. It's not perfect, but you can find answers to your questions in posts from the last year or so in old threads.

Cheers,

Doc

If you want to go straight to visually stunning, check out Ratatouille. Plus it's a great movie to boot. Then you can watch whatever you'd like afterwards. Just don't judge Blu-ray on The Twilight Zone.

You could use the Analog audio input to get uncompressed PCM and dolby trueHD with your Harman Kardon, did you knew that?

Welcome aboard rambler! Yeah, TZ is not the best for PQ. Try all the titles mentioned in this thread and you will be amazed. All the Pirates movies, Pixar, Casino Royale, Corpse Bride, The Prestige, the list goes on and on...
