Australia Apocalypse Now 4K

Just wondering how many versions we are getting here in Australia.

I noticed that JB Hifi don't have it listed at all yet but Sanity do and they have 2 4K versions listed.

https://www.sanity.com.au/products/2...HD---Final-Cut

https://www.sanity.com.au/products/2...-Now-Final-Cut

Different release dates for both of these too.

Can anyone shed some light as too what versions we are getting released locally?

I already ordered the 6 disc set from Zavvi in the expectation we would get screwed like we were with Deer Hunter 4k and The Doors 4k. Those UK releases are excellent.Still at $66 delivered for Apocalypse, it still works out cheaper than here.

So the US version doesn't have the 3 cuts in 4k?

The US version has all three cuts in 4K. I have no idea why you would think otherwise.

The standard BDs are also region-free, per someone in the UHD section.

It's identical discs everywhere apparently - in this case, Lionsgate did the encoding, so we don't need to worry about Studio Canal's dicky compression, which is a relief, especially with it being such a long movie.

"Apocalypse Now will be available DVD, Blu-Ray and 3 Disc 4K available September and 6 DISC 4K available October. We hope that's helpful. Thanks."

This is what Sony told me last month.

Sounds awesome.. one 4K disc and five other discs we most likely already have. More isn't always better.

Only the extras are recycled. There's two 4K discs (Final Cut and Theatrical/Redux) and the 1080p discs are also new masters/encodes. The old BD was from an interpositive, these are all from the OCN. So it's well worth the upgrade, but not for 90 bucks!

addendum: Hearts of Darkness disc also has a bunch of new extras added. So there's a Final-Cut which has that cut only on UHD and BD, and the new Hearts of Darkness disc. Then the 6-disc which ports the US release at over twice the price.
