I wasn wondering about this movie....Guess I'll be passing on it to.

I buy movies sometimes blind if I haven't seen them in the theaters yet.
This one doesn't sound too promising though.

I don't know, bad acting, bad plot, cheesy special effects, sound right up my alley. Of course I'll probably kick myself when I buy this.

Nah, it is mindless fun that you watch because you know it is not to be taken seriously.
Day one here.

Sounds like one of those movies that are on VERY late at night when nobody is watching TV, or they are bored out of their minds.

But if the CG is anything like the dragon in Beowulf, I might give it a rent.

I've seen Dumb With Dragons--
I've seen "Eragon", I've seen "Dungeons & Dragons", I've yet to rent "Reign of Fire", and so help me, I've seen the crashing wasteful who's-responsible misfire that was "Dragonheart" in a theater...
On the other hand, I paid to see "Godzilla 2000"and liked it. (No, not the Matthew Broderick one, but put that one on the list with the others)

What you will note is that all of the bad ones were North American attempts to give us CGI monsters, not Asian...Just WHAT LEVEL of bad-dumb-CGI-waste could we even be talking about? Americans just can't conceptually picture anything Asian being too cheesy to watch.
(Well, okay, maybe "Godzilla: Final Wars", but only because of the wrestler guy and the cheesy Matrix ripoffs. And even then...)

I thought you were talking about I KNOW WHO KILLED ME there for a moment...but I still might pick Dragon Wars up. I have a collection of most dragon movies put out, so it will be a collectors item for me at the least.

I have Reign of Fire (both the SD and BD versions), and it's a great movie! The CGI is done incredibly well, and the story is well written. They have a great scene in it where they are telling the story of a very popular movie as a fairy tale that's just funny to watch. This was a sleeper in the theaters, and is really too bad, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Check out the review on this site if you have any apprehenions, but I doubt you will be disappointed...

Default love reign of fire.

Yeah its over the top, but hey its apost apocalyptic world where all of man kind couldnt do what Christian Bale does basically by himself. I loved it but seriously how did mankind almost go extinct, was there no bow and arrows available?

Compared to Dragon Wars, Reign of Fire is Academy Award material.

Rent it, if you must.

Well now, that is a very good question. I haven't watched in quite a while, but wasn't it something like, all of a sudden one day there were thousands upon thousands in the air? I'm guessing if they were able to scorch the Earth quickly enough that lack of food would pretty much ground all the armed forces... Can't remember exactly though. Quit trying to ruin one of my more favorite movies!

I don't see how anyone could have ever expected Dragon Wars to be anything other than a piece of garbage.

This POS was out for how long in theaters? What a month or two? I saw a couple of previews and heard nothing more about it. Too bad it wasn't a Universal or Paramount release so we wouldn't have this piece of crap.

That movie looked so cool, but the reviews said it was terrible. What do some of you think about the movie? Should I watch it?

I watched it yesterday. It was better than the "exclusive" movies they show on the Sci-Fi channel (how many giant snake movies do we need anyway?) but it wasn't anything I would personally want on blu-ray.

Rent, yes. Buy, no.

I just saw the trailer for it tonight coincidentally, and well... it looks like it will be exactly what one could expect; a monster flick that spent its entire budget on effects instead of writers and actors. I don't believe I noticed any established actors, or other film credits so it's gotta make you wonder.

Also, all trailers follow some extremely rigid rules and this one really tows the line on rule #2; The more they focus on the eye candy, the worse the script. Since this trailer was pretty much all monster footage...

Could be good for the eye candy, but most likely with a weak and predictable story. Doesn't mean it will be bad though, Transformers achieved success on pure eye candy and little else.
