French Region-Free Releases
Note: Each Blu-ray release listed in this thread is Region-Free. Therefore, you will be able to play it on your PS3 or SA regardless of your geographical location. For the record, there is no problematic PAL or 1080/50i content preceding the main menus of these discs. Please click on the covers to access our reviews. TESTING
The thread will become sticky shortly. We will also have a similar thread for Region-B "locked" French titles. UK and Asian threads also coming up. If you have any suggestions before the thread goes sticky tonight, please post ![]() Pro-B |

I might suggest organizing the listing, either by distributor or title, because as it grows larger, it may be difficult to find a specific release without a system of navigation.
Also, in the rare instance where a reviewed release is better-known outside of France by it's English title, it may be good to note that under or over the picture, although I cannot remember if this has ever been applicable thus far. I would also specially highlight the indicator of their being no 1080i/50 content on the releases in this list, as it may be missed even in the bold paragraph. Hopefully this list will make it even easier to find region-free releases playable on North American equipment. ![]() |

McCrutchy,
All of these are very good suggestions, and I actually do have something similar in mind, but will likely do it in about 8-10 months, when we have more reviews. I would put a distributors list with the titles we have reviewed under each, marked as Region-Free or Region-B. But we need a bigger pool of reviews as at the moment some distributors would likely get only one or two releases in each thread. ![]() Pro-B |

No, I understood it's not a musical. It sounds a bit like Mongol, which I really enjoyed, but without the dialog & subtitles - I was really drawn to the cinematography in that one (the wonderful Universal UK release with AVC video & DTS Master Audio, not the mediocre New Line US release with VC-1 & Dolby Digital)

Thank you for this thread, I love French movies and was happy to discover some very good ones are on region free blu ray discs! I will order several for sure: MR 73, La Haine, Le Dernier Combat, maybe even the extended cut of Walk the Line! Please keep posting updates!

Just a warning: I recently ordered Kelin, La Haine, 36 and Elephant Man from Amazon.fr and they ended up sending the REGION B LOCKED UK version of La Haine instead of the region-free FR version. I'm not sure if this is a common issue or not. Elephant Man & 36 didn't even make it! For some reason they were returned and refunded.
Thanks for the recommendations though! Cool thread ![]() |

Kasponius,
Be careful when you order La Haine. You want to have the French release by Studio Canal. I see they are also selling cheaper Benelux imports. ![]() As far as you shipping troubles - you must select the slightly more expensive shipping option, because Amazon.fr are having some issue with the "supersaver" option somewhere in the UK. The Bear (L'Ours) is region A and English-friendly.
