Hi guys.
So, i was having trubbels with the HTC, the voice of the people (when it was no back sound like explitions and stuff), was very low, i think it was because i nedd it to up the volumen of the center speaker. After playing a few hs and days, this is what i did. The master volumen is between 30 and 35 (the maximum is 68) ![]() Front & center speakes. ![]() Back speaker. ![]() ![]() Between the TV wall and the back speaker is 2.5 meters. (i put that in the reciber) Now, i can choose on the reciber SURR or DSP (All CH Stereo), my dad thinks the DSP is more like in the theathers, i was thinking that SURR need to be like in the theathers, am i wrong? This is a video of the same movie (a few minutes with DSP and after SURR when is not back sound like explitions and stuff and after a minute more or less, the same but with back sound). Can you lisent any diference? And another thing, when is on SURR, the back speakers, i need to put my ear very close to the speaker to lisent, with the DSP not, is suppouse to be like that? Anyway, if you can help me to setting the Onkyo in the best way, i will be very grateful :-) |

Have you tried using the ACCUEQ room calibration mic that comes with all Onkyo receivers. It's not the greatest measurement set-up, but it does do the trick and from your pics it looks as if your space is small. The ACCUEQ will measure your room and speaker placements and set them as best as it can. Once done you can tweak it to your listening pleasure.

i heart about that, buy my came without that :-(
Anyway, i think that now is working like suppouse to do, that video is not that good so you can help me i saw in my PC :-(. But after i read a few thing, i understood this: (in simple words) 1) if the movie/tv show came with sound 7.1/5.1 i need to use the "direct or surr". 2) if came with 2.0, i need to use the DSP. More or less. jeje. |

DSP is a range of sound options for users to select, I general avoid them. My Yamaha had a host of options like Sci-Fi, Action and so on. They often shift the speaker delays to create a larger stage.
You can stick to Surround in most cases, Direct can be useful if you're after the truest source representation without and post-processing. Some AVRs don't always playback mono signals unless you select Direct. If you're listening to 2.0 you can use Dolby PII or DTS: Neo to create surround sound. You don't have to use DSP. |

Hi, i my reciber, to use Dolby PII or DTS: Neo, i have to put is before in DSP (or that what i remember now, those 2 things are part of the selection, like in your you have si-fi and other? in my i have rock, sport, games and a few more and also Dolby PII & DTS: Neo, part of the DSP option ) But again, is depends of the movie/tv show. For example, yesterday i was waching Batman 1966 in Bluray and is 1.0 jaja, so DSP All Channels in Stereo was veter that the rest (and i try everithing jeje) |

Personally, I'd cycle through the SURR button until you get DOLBY PLII MOVIE or NEO:6 CINEMA Movie, then you'll get Surround with your mono or stereo movies. DSP is fine, but I've never felt much need for it, but it's worth experimenting.

I put in DSP, is the only one that i can change and look for what you say, but only have DOBLY, i don't know why i can't choose NEO now :-( (maeby is becouse the movie i'm watching?) In the direct mode is ok (master volumen at 40, maximum is 68), in DSP ALL... is to high at 40. In DOBLY i don't like how is sound, jaja. With the SURR, sound the same like DIRECT. :-( Something else, a few people told me to check the DBs of each speaker, rhat needs to be in 75, i did and now the settings are like this. ![]() ![]() Is good? Supoouse to be like this? I'm geting a little tired actually ![]() |

Changing the speaker levels is often required to create a balanced sound stage, but you may have to do additional tweaking if you're having the surrounds overpowering the dialogue, the numbers themselves are meaningless to the point that they need to suit your specific environment only. So if those numbers sound great, then they're good numbers! |

I needed to up the center because of the voices, i think now is on 10 or 12. I think i finish with that part, sound good. About the other thing, like i said (and you said now), when it was a 4K movie, and i put it in SURR, i could not change it between DOLBY PLII MOVIE or NEO:6 CINEMA Movie and others, but when i was watching a tv show that is only AC3 2.0, i could, jeje, so i was rigth, it's depends of the movie/tv show. Now i left on NEO:6 CINEMA Movie, is a little annoying that i need to play with that stuff depends os the movie :-(, but more or less i think that like it is now, is good enoght for everithing. Thanks again for the help :-) |

Generally unless you're on DIRECT you should find that you automatically stay in the mode you want, Blu-rays and UHDs will output in their native formats and everything else will stay in a surround mode. You'd only have to change when you want to listen to things in mono or stereo.

Yes, i saw that. I was watching the movie in the BR Player and was in direct, and change back to the PC and to SURR, and was still on NEO... (like i left before). I left it on NEO.. because i'm not the only one that i use it, but when i'm use it i can change and play, the other people don't know jaja Anyway, thanks again for the help here and in my other topic. Took me 2 months and 1 week to get evrething like i wanted jaja :-( |

Hello again :-)
I run into a little problem, nothing important, but is annoying. When i use Netflix directly from the TV app, and also from the PC (win 10 app or firefox) y can not get a 5.1 sound. In the PC only works the fron & center speakers, when i use the TV, only the TV speakers works. I got an optical cable, i connected, and change the setting to use "Internal Speakers + Optical", but nothing. What i'm doing wrong? On the back of the onkyo i have this. When i use the TV, i put on the remote of the Onkyo "TV" but nothing happends when i change the TV sound option to "Optic", on works with "Internal TV Speakers". If i choose ARC, onlt works with the HDMI stuff, the TV (like the Netflix app) dosn't work, i mean is no sound. Can you help me? |

Is it turned on? It also needs to be enabled with your LG TV, if optical is selected, it may disable ARC. Also check that the audio is set to a format that's supported. You may also have to power on the Onkyo first then the TV. |

Ok, first, the ARC is on. About the orterd of "Trun On", some times i power on the Onkyo first, and then the TV, and some times TV and then the Onkyo. Is really a diferences? About the Settings. When i chose the ARC (on the TV), everithing that is connect to the HDMI in the Onkyo works. But: 1) there is no 5.1 sound from Netflix (non on the APP an non on from the firefox) 2) the is no sound when i use the TV APPs, like netflix youtube & another one for the CABLE on my country. 3) The Optical cable i just put in today, from the TV OUT to the Onkyo IN, when i choos on the TV "optical" no sound at all (for what i can remember), and also from the TV when i use all (like netflix youtube & another one for the CABLE on my country.) I read about the ARC/Optic, so i change the HDMI OUT that goes from the Onkyo to the HDMI 1 (No ARC) and put again the TV in Optical and also no Sound. I need to trun off ethe TV every time that i put a new cable or something? |

If you have the TV connected to the AVR (in stand-by) ARC to ARC, if you go into your LG's All Settings > Sound > Sound Out, what do you see ticked? Internal TV Speaker?
Go down to Audio Out (Optical/HDMI ARC), if you select that option does the Onyko turn on? Digital Sound Out < Auto > and SIMPLINK should be < On >. Something's going wrong if you're not getting any sound from ARC to ARC. |

I don't remember all your question, and i can check now, i will check it tomorrow and let you know. But, again, i have 2 "mayor" problems. 1) No 5.1 Sound on Netflix (no from the PC APP, PC Firefox, and TV Netflix APP) 2) No Sound with Optical Cable when the TV is setting on ONLY Optical. But again, tomorrow i will check what you say and let you know. |

Ok, first, i solved it
![]() ![]() I don't understand exactly why is work like this, but, i will try to explaind you what i did. 1) For now, the HDMI Out from the Onkyo is on the HDMI 1 (No ARC) 2) The Onkyo have on the settings: Innput Assing --> Analog Innput --> Analog TV or CD. Doesn't matter in wich one i put in, when i want to use the 5.1 Directly from the TVs APP, in need to chose CD from the Remote Control, that's the only way that the 5.1 works, i can use all the options (DIRECT, STEREO, SURR, DSP), i have to say that DSP All Channels in Stereo works better here i think. 3) I don't know why, but before i left, i saw this: ![]() You see the "5.1" ? Now i don't see it ![]() 4) I left on TV Internas Speakers + Optical, but i can't be sure that the TV Speakers also are working ![]() I try it with netflix, Youtube and an Israeli Cable APP on the TV and all works. 5) About the TV setting, i have this: ![]() ![]() ![]() For what i can see, i don't have ARC/Optical together, is one or another. What i want to try is, if a put back the HDMI OUT from the Onkyo to the HDMI 2 (ARC) on the TV, if the Optical still works. And the last thing, my TV in LG UM 7340, the new one that i want is the UN7340 55", and i saw this: Left UM7300 - the other on UN7300 ![]() So my question is this, all i got finlly, will not work with the new LG UN7300? I'm talking about the audio stuff. Sorry for the Long post ![]() |

Ok, UPDATE:
Is getting me crazy, now, i trun off everithing, put back the HDMI OUT from the ONKYO to the HDMI 2 (ARC) on the TV. The sound setting are like this (and i swere i try it before) ![]() And now i get 5.1 Sound fron the TV APPs like Netflix (but still the DSP All Channels in Stereo works better i think) And i see again the 5.1 "icon" on Netflix ![]() And when i'm on the TV and try to change it to TV Speakers/Optical, the setting change it back to HDMI ARC automatically, and something else, now the Onkyo needs to be in "TV" from the Remote control to work ![]() ![]() I just can explaind it ![]() ![]() |

You look to be very close to the surrounds, which might be one reason. I'd certainly have them set lower than the front speakers which are further away from you but it seems they are all set the same currently as the front left and right. Raising the centre speaker will help with hearing dialogue, but I think a more in-depth calibration (automatic, manual, or a mix of both) would improve things more for you.
