I pretty much lost all hope when the remake came out and they didn't release '95 at the same time. But we'll see...

Agreed. I literally spent thousands of hours in arcades for MK 1 through UMK3 as a kid. Wasn't the best in the area but was probably a solid top 5 or so, maybe as high as peak top 3 of a fairly decent MK scene. There were days when I could drop in and go undefeated for several hours on my first credits if the best guys weren't there that day. But the best 2 could beat me even if they did random select and I had my pick of fighter. They were just that good at the time. The top player was insanely good at arcade games in general and I was amazed how he'd adapt to pretty much every game and was rarely beaten. If by the 0.0000001% chance he's reading, it was a guy who wore a Clemson hat and I think had the initials of DCA since those were constantly at the top of the leaderboards of about every game. It was interesting as the opening night this movie debuted in theaters, the top arcade guys were pretty much all there as well.

Adding to more MK nostalgia. A few years ago I started playing MK 2 and UMK3 again but online and over years after the local arcade scenes of the 90s. The online scene was very small but was comprised of mostly elite level players. These guys were probably better than our local area champ who I only witnessed losing a match a very small handful of times over a period of several years. These guys online devised newer ways of playing that I hadn't seen before. And I was glad that some of my childhood tactics are legit now. People in the early to mid 90s might get angry over things like close combat jabs, kicks and throws and people would sometimes mouth off at me for it. The games are pretty technical at the higher levels and the top guys I had trouble even winning a single round unless there was obvious lag. Those guys rarely jump or give openings to attack. In a kind of funny way, the elite level players over time essentially started to play like the insanely tough AI computer players in the game when it's manually set the maximum difficulty settings.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match 4K Blu-ray Review

Checking 4K screenshots this looked 4K native to me. Meanwhile I got a confirmation by the film makers this was 4K native finished. Only a few handful shots were in 2K. Everything else was 4K at minium.

The movie got a 4K trailer as well.

Was not aware of that. All the more reason to buy the 4K disc!

I have a feeling since WB missed the opportunity during MK '21s release and are bleeding money now, that these were probably licensed out to Shout for well needed dough. It's possible they were planning to release 4ks with the reboot sequel, but with the SAG strike still going it's looking more unlikely at the moment.
