Very interested in The Stone Killer. Saw some of The Valachi Papers on a Japanese BD. Was boring to me.

Stone Killer is a must buy unless there's a better edition elsewhere. Valachi papers I have never seen and sounds iffy... will watch some clips.

I think Indicator/Powerhouse has picked up The Stone Killer according to a post in the UK thread. I'll wait for that. Willing to bet they also have Valachi Papers.

Ditto. Pretty much not buying any Columbia/Sony titles from TT anymore. If Signal One could boost their output, I'd say the same for Fox titles.

Agree--will wait for a (likely) UK release of Stone Killer.

I thought Bronson was quite good in The Valachi Papers even if it wasn't a typical vehicle for him. The Japanese BD looks great so I imagine this should as well.

I'm a big Bronson fan and Valachi Papers was thoroughly mediocre.....

TT have been licensing their commentaries to Indicator, so the two labels are certainly friendly collaborators to some degree.

Some people find it obnoxious when you point out a better edition overseas, even if it's region-free. I just got yelled at a lot for doing that with The Last Detail and Alfredo Garcia (not region-free) in the Twilight Time thread. It is what it is. I'll be getting the Indicator though.

The problem with The Valachi Papers is that it's just a series of episodes, taking place over the course of several decades, in the career of its protagonist. There isn't much in the way of an over-arching plot to keep you gripped. I think that's why many find the film unsatisfying.

It's fairly well-made though, and has a memorable castration scene (which is what probably got the film an R rating).

Holding out for the cheaper, better packaged and much more voluminous Indicator edition.
