Default Audio Connection...Help Please!

Hi All,
I have a Panasonic Blu Ray Player, Comcast HD Cable, and Panasonic HTIB. But only problem I have is the receiver doesn't have 5.1 Multichannel that I want, so only option is the AUX (2 CH). I want to have surround sound from cable & blu. Is it possible to get a splitter (y connection, 2 female, 1 male connection) and connect the two to the receiver and when I watch tv on hd it will have surround and likewise for my blu? Thanks.

no, you won't get surround sound from 2 channel analog. Get a new receiver.

btw, is the htib routed through a DVD player that also acts as a receiver for the speakers? If so get a new receiver, those things arn't designed to connect to other devices properly. You can keep your speakers but get a new receiver that has 5.1 analog inputs or can process sound through HDMI. That way you'll not only get surround sound, but the BEST surround sound possible.

Oh and if you go the HDMI route, make sure it sends 1080p back to the T.V.
Then Hook your Blu-ray up to the receiver with HDMI, Cable to receiver with an Optical Cord(and to t.v. with HDMI or component) and finally the receiver to the t.v with HDMI.

I'm assuming not, but: does your receiver have an optical or coax digital input? If so you can use it to get Dolby Digital and DTS from your player (and DD from your cable box if it has a digital output).

Default Good news...

Actually...great news! I was thinking at work today that I know it could work, it's a connector and it says so on the box that you can do so. I have connected my monitor speaker cable and 2.1 speakers on my computer together to get it in the audio port on my computer and same thing, it works like a charm. No loss-less audio! I tested my surround sound with the HD CABLE and perfect sound, same with my blu ray and my surround sound, works great and no loosing any sound and it's actually clear like it was before, so my philosophy was correct. As they always say, "TRUST YOU INSTINCTS!".
