Hollywood legends Humphrey Bogart (The African Queen), William Holden (Stalag 17) and Audrey Hepburn (Roman Holiday) star in this classic Cinderella story directed by the brilliant Billy Wilder (Sunset Boulevard, Some Like It Hot, The Apartment). Bogie and Holden are the mega-rich Larrabee brothers of Long Island. Bogie’s all work, Holden’s all playboy. But when Sabrina, daughter of the family’s chauffeur, returns from a stay in Paris all grown up and glamorous, the stage is set for some family fireworks as the brothers fall under the spell of Hepburn’s delightful charms. Sabrina scored 6 Academy Award nominations for the year 1954, including Best Actress for Hepburn, Best Director for Wilder, Best Screenplay for Wilder with Ernest Lehman (North by Northwest) and Samuel A. Taylor (Vertigo) based on Taylor’s hit Broadway play, and an Oscar win for Edith Head’s iconic costumes. Provocative, romantic, bubbling with laughter—Sabrina is simply irresistible!

They’ll also put out the remake from a new transfer but it’s going to be BD only.

One of the best rom-coms ever, pure and simply.

Gonna put up my open matte Blu-ray for sale (after it's confirmed Kino didn't botch the UHD transfer).

Technically yes. If they remastered the film in HDR/DV, I wouldn’t really care as Kino’s 4K encoding is so shoddy it’d surely be like Uncle Buck again where the BD is vastly superior to the 4K. With a bit of luck, Wilder’s film fares slightly better due to it being b/w but I’m not holding my breath either as Stalag 17 is also ridiculously bad.

Not surprised this one is coming soon. I've already got it in 4K in my digital collection. Paramount movies almost always get a physical release later on.

As I couldn't care less about the original, I would have picked up the remake in a heartbeat in 4k.

Why don't you like the the original?

I think it's a nice film but something about Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn's chemistry doesn't work for me.

Is 1.75:1 really the film’s correct aspect ratio? The old Warner BD lists 1.85 on the back cover but as always they opened the masters up to 1.78.

This one has a wonky history. It was always 1.33 on DVD, and the first BD overseas used that same 1.33 master.

Before they did the US BD, Paramount was made aware that it had been shot at the dawn of widescreen, so they created a new widescreen master that's 1.78.

I'm not sure where 1.75 comes from, was that the early version of "flat" at first? I know the "flat" aspect ratio changed a bit over time before it settled at 1.85.

From the 7th August 1954 issue of Boxoffice Magazine:

1.75:1 is indeed correct for Sabrina.

This is what Bob Furmanek said about the AR at HTF and elsewhere in older discussions on the topic:
