Default The Twilight Zone - 4k

I was looking to buy the complete series Blu-Ray set but was holding off thinking they may release a 4K disc set. Does anyone know if there is any news about The Twilight Zone coming out on UHD discs?

Thanks.

CBS Digital took back distribution of The Twilight Zone... I don't see a 4K version happening.

Super long shot a show like this gets a UHD release. I mean I guess anything's possible, but seems way out there to me.

I'm a huge Twilight Zone fan. But I just don't see them ever releasing a 4K version.

The current Blu's look beyond incredible. You should defintely pick them up and enjoy them.

I really don't think 4K would add much to an already incredible Blu set.

I'm frankly amazed this got released on Blu with all the care it did instead of just a slapped on job. Don't see anybody taking the time to make 4k of it.

I don't see very many TV shows coming to 4k period besides documentaries and possibly stuff like GoT.

I feel like most tv shows shot on film will come to 4k eventually. It won't cost them much to upgrade the masters they have compared to the prices they will charge. I have no doubt Paramount will bring the Star Trek series' because they like to rake the trekkies over the coals every 5-10 years and that will show there is a market to other companies.

I am hopeful.

We have still yet to get dS9 or Voyager on anything but dvd. I can't see them going back and redoing TNG again (Even though they did do an amazing job with it on the blus) so it would at best be an upscale. Not that upscales are bad per se but in this case I don't think it would help much. That really just leaves classic trek.

Should be moved to the 'wishlist'. In my opinion, we will eventually see more shows on UHD Blu-ray. This format is only growing.

Dude getting this stuff on BD is a longshot, let alone UHD.

Yeah, there's a ton of super popular shows that only get DVD releases. I don't see that changing anytime soon apart from some shows that fit a niche like Westworld and maybe Game of Thrones for 4K but it won't be a lot. Be grateful for the restoration you got for the blu-ray release of Twilight Zone that's probably the best it's ever going to look on home video though (which is pretty freaking great honestly).

PS. This should probably be moved to the wishlist section to avoid confusion.

still a long-shot, but maybe the reboot will spark some 4K possibilities?

That's where I'm at. I have the original, now OOP blu-ray boxset. I'm rewatching it now and still blown away by how it looks.

But if you give me 4K UHD with all the special features from the blu-rays, I'm there day one.

I think it happens. This is the greatest show of all time. Without it, modern tv doesn’t exist. CBS knows this and Hollywood knows this, that’s why they remake it every few years.

I don't think we'll see it and honestly, the BDs are so well mastered and encoded I feel no need for 4K with something like these.

I think we definitely need a 4K transfer. Consdiering Jordan Peeles Twilight Zone is premiering next week, and if successful will bring even more attention to the franchise, it would be logical to update the twilight zone into crystal clear format for all of us to enjoy. Especially since the new show is suppsosedly heavily inspired from the original. Yes to this!

YES! Hopefully with the release of Its a Wonderful Life, maybe it'll give more access to the old black and white movies and tv shows. Especially Twilight Zone. One of the best tv shows out there. After the Blu-ray, we need a 4k edition.

I'm currently in the process of watching The Twilight Zone on BD. Those were shot and stored on 35mm, so that will explain the high quality of the image on BD (though I note some episodes must have been lost or not available in the original 35mm format, as some are clearly magnetic tape versions (though those episodes might have been shot on that medium instead of 35mm)).

The restoration on that (and others like Dick Van Dyke Show) is amazing as well. I guess the issue might be black and white, so not sure how much UHD with the accompanying HDR/DV might improvement the image. It's a Wonderful Life might be an excellent indicator of what might be possible for black and white media in the UHD format.

But I will definitely buy It's a Wonderful Life 4K, and yes, would be interested in The Twilight Zone if ever it got the UHD/HDR/DV treatment.
