Murders in the Zoo has long been a pretty sought-after title.

Technically Murders in the Zoo is Paramount but a fine addition just the same. Still a bummer no Murders in the Rue Morgue though.

This is apparently the 5-film "Universal Cult Horror Collection" set from years ago that was, I believe, a TCM exclusive initially (if memory serves they were also DVD-R's); the omitted film is HOUSE OF HORRORS with Rondo Hatton.

This is quite a treat as I've never seen any of these with the exception of THE MAD GHOUL.

A lot of people at the Classic Horror Film Boards should be mighty happy with this announcement.

It's awesome these are being released! Wouldn't mind if the price went down a little, but for 4 movies it's actually not a bad deal.

Does anyone have a complete list of Universal Horror movies on / not on bluray?

Mad Ghoul is my favorite of these four. Good role for George Zucco. All of these are a surprise, I wasn't expecting them so soon, especially Murders in the Zoo being a Paramount title. Hope Shout doesn't base sales interest on this set, I'm sure these titles aren't the most popular.

They were pressed DVDs for the initial pressing, when they sold out they started using DVD-Rs.

Someone was going to do a thread like the Hammer one on these boards but looks like he never got around to it. We started to compile here:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=316180

Universal Monsters 31 Film set
The Phantom of the Opera
The Last Warning
The Man Who Laughs
The Old Dark House
The Last Performance (on Criterion's Lonesome BD)
The Strange Door
It Came from Outer Space
Tarantula
The Mole People
This Island Earth
The Deadly Mantis
The Incredible Shrinking Man
The Land Unknown
Monolith Monsters
Monster on the Campus
The House of Seven Gables
The Complete Sherlock Holmes Collection
Universal Horror Volume 1
Universal Horror Volume 2

VCI announced Phantom Creeps.

That is really it as far as I know. Someone who is serious about maintaining the thread should make one.

Will definitely be collecting these. It looks like these will also include Paramount horrors from the era, since Universal owns that catalog. Does that mean we can expect The Cat & the Canary and The Ghost Breakers? I thought Kino might have gotten them, but it’s looking like that might not be the case.

I have The Mad Ghoul from that collection. It wasn’t a DVD-R.

Off hand I know CATC is public domain so probably not (from Shout at least).

Yes, but the prices bite. Hoping Vol 1, 2, and subsequent releases show up in a more affordable UK or EU release. Or, better yet, at Hamilton Books.

The 1927 silent film definitely is, but the 1939 version with Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard is not (it’s owned by Universal).

There is speculation that Flicker Alley might be releasing the 1927 version if Universal is doing a new restoration.

Universal did release the Bob Hope Cat on DVD officially. I'm surprised the silent hasn't made it to BD yet.

The Cat Creeps (1946) will probably be released by Shout if these sell well. How many versions of this movie did the world need? It is like Seven Keys to Baldpate, way too many.

That's the wrong Cat Creeps. The one based on The Cat and the Canary is the 1930 The Cat Creeps, which doesn't exist anymore apart from a brief fragment in the 1932 comedy short Boo!
