Default Peter Bracke actually has Blu-leaning comments in T3 review

Note the bolded parts below... about friggin' time.

What do you mean "actually"?

HDD is the most fair and balanced for both formats on the net. Sure he says good things about HD DVD when HD DVD does something good, but that doesn't mean he's biased

Blu-Ray gets the ratings it deserves and if a studio f&#&s up and does something like... putting 1080i video on a 1080p disc then yes, that disc should be docked points or stars or however it is rated.

He has been biased in his reviews all the way up until last year, it has changed now, but that's because Blu-ray is the obvious winner. Last year, a very large majority of his reviews had a red slant to them. Such as saying Transformers only has a DD+ soundtrack, which is a minus, but still giving it five star on audio.

This, obviously I agree with.

I think he finally got that enema that everyone here has been suggesting he get. Better late than never I guess.

I have been reading HDD reviews since I got into HDM, and I see no bias from Bracke. I like his reviews, and I find his assessments of audio and video quality spot on. Some of the "news" they post at HDD is pretty absurd, like the recent bit regarding the HD-DVD petition, but I have no problem with Peter Bracke's integrity.

Maybe some of you have seen things I haven't. Would someone care to post some of his HD-DVD biased comments? I've yet to find any. And him telling the truth about a shitty transfer, or the HD-DVD release of a dual format movie having better special features doesn't count.

Now don't get me wrong, I refer to audio/video ratings, NOT the movie itself ratings, I know those are entirely subjective.

Either way, he WAS biased, and now he appears to have seen the light.

...and HDD is loaded with red ants, no question.

I disagree, if one or two people said they see bias is one thing but when hundreds of readers say the same thing..., all I'm saying is where there's smoke there's fire.

The HDD forums are biased, and there are some crappy "news" articles posted, but until I see a link of a clearly biased article by Bracke I stand by my assertion his reviews are fair. I've read nearly every Blu-Ray review of his since June-July, and he hasn't said anything in my mind that was biased HD-DVD or anti-Blu-Ray. And I definitely see the world through Blu glasses.....

He probably realized that if his site is to remain relevent that he needs to drop the pro HD DVD slant from his site.

HD DVD is DONE. Only the diehards won't let it die at this point.

That was Josh Zyber... ugh, I think he is just blind, worst than Peter Bracke by far.

Though he gave the video in 3:10 a 4 star, not 3.

I disagree with a lot of HDD's reviews, but whether or not it's cuz they are biased is another story. I try to find a balance between HDD reviews and bluray.com reviews, cuz I find HDD are a little stingy on PQ and AQ, and Bluray.com is way to liberal a lot of the time.

..What's the big deal? If it's in 1080i, don't most players/tv's de-interlace if they're 1080p capable?

Am I mistaken? Just curious, since I'm a bit fuzzy on this detail. Anyone care to (kindly) enlighten me?

It did 'appear' at one time fautless Blu-ray transfers would fail to get top marks due to some obscure fault, even directors intent, i.e grain/style, leading to half a star dropped here and there.

On the flipside Halloween had a fantastic transfer, but as the colour timing was not as the director intended, it was slaughtered.

I have noticed he/they now make a point of saying PQ will not be marked down due to directors intent.

I concur. You are more hard pressed to find a 5-star PQ and AQ disc at HDD compared to Blu-Ray.com, though I do enjoy both site's reviews. The reason I like Bracke's reviews (and have made an attempt to defend him,) is because when he gives a disc 5-star PQ, I know it's worth owning and I won't be disappointed.
