Default PS2 games DO WORK on PS3! > Proof with video, tested!

The rumor: "PS3 not playing hit PS2 titles"
Is untrue, lie! ITS MISINFORMATION!

Here is the proof.
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-ente...oed-214209.php

Many people have tested old PS2 games, they all worked on PS3!

The memory card creation/selection looks really cool. I don't have any old PS2 games, so I wouldn't have a need for it but its cool nonetheless.

Instead of doing a bunch of copying and pasting, maybe this isn't the best etiquette, but this thread kind of got my attention and I hope you all can shed some light on it for me.

There's a handful of PS2 games I'd like to play. PS1, I couldn't care less.

Can I do it or not?

I have read about this. Most ps2 games will work on the ps3. You many have a freezing main screen or missing sound, but nothing really serious. It may be possible to update the problems with a future update. Keep in mind that the ps3 is just out right now in Japan so there will likely be bugs and things that will need to be addressed.

USA Today:

Quote:
Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), Sony's game unit, plans to fix the PS3 problems by offering online upgrades for system software, SCE spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka said.
Personally, I'm not really worried about this.

Even right out of the gate, this is better than half assed BC setup that MS launched the 360 with.

Exactly, apply updates and your problems are solved. I would almost bet money that sony can fix all the bugs with older games or at least most of them for that matter.

I'm not worried, since I will only be buying NEW PS3 games. I gave away all my old PS2 games, so it doesn't matter to me.

That's just bad new there. the 200+ titles can't play on the PS3 that well

But...

When you look at it, you have 200+ PS1/PS2 titles that won't work against a total of 8000 PS1/PS2 games combined as of last count.

That's like less than 10% of the total amount of legacy games for Sony consoles.

Although I'm slightly disappointed as I was expecting that PS1/PS2 games would run 100% perfectly, I guess it can't be helped that humans haven't perfected hardware technology fully. In any case though, at least 90% of the legacy games look like they run fine (based on the lists) so it shouldn't pose as a major hardware threat for the PS3.

It shouldn't affect much at all. And I think after the fiscal year 07, SCE might finish their software emulator which should replace the EE+GS chip......I think.

I don't know what everyone is expecting with the ps3. I mean the certain ps1 games don't work with the ps2 and you can't do anyting about that. The ps3 you can update. First everyone was b****ing about the ps3 price and now it's about certain ps2 games not working on the ps3. You just have to sit tight and wait for updates to be available..

I'll tell you want the problem is and no offense to anyone reading this, but everyone wants the ps3 to work perfectly 100% out of the box and this is impossible to do.

JTK i am saying that PS2 games work with PS3.
I am doing this because some xBox fans wine that FinalFantasy is not working on PS3 but it is!

All of the games listes on AVSForum also work with PS3, some with small problem. SONY is making the update for those 10-15 game which will fix them too.

Nothing can be perfect and optimized out of the box.

Like I said before: I'm really not worried about this.

Here's a side question: Do I NEED the remote control to watch BD movies on this thing?

No. Just like DVDs with PS2s, you can control using the controller. Just a little clumsier than without a remote.

I don't want to start a thread on this but I wanted to know.

What's the average resolution of PC games? They don't have 1080p do they?
