Default When I was your age, we had to blow on the video games to make them work!!

What was your favorite Game from the 'blow on 'em to make 'em work' era?

I would have to say my favorite game that I played the most was Sim City for the Super Nintendo...not a big fan of the newer versions of Sim City. I still to this day pop it in every now and then and give it a go. I still remember the 8bit Nintendo and how many times they messed up...those were the days

I have always loved Streets of Rage when I had my Mega Drive. That, along with Revenge of Shinobi, Columns, and Golden Axe. 2D Sonic was always awesome and I'm glad to see him finally going back to his old routes.

It was mainly every NES games that I had to blow on. I had my own "trick" when I inserted my game in to prevent it from freezing.

I was too young to have any favourites, but I did like this one though it was way too hard for me.

Funny how everybody in the world knew about blowing the games so they'd work...

DUDE, you knew that without a the cartridge whistling, it wouldn't work!

I remember all these different things people would say to do, clean with qtips, cover contacts with baby oil, clean with alcohol, the only thing that worked well was blowing them!

I definitely remember it, especially since I still have an original 8 bit NES in my HT setup. My favorite games were Double Dragon, Contra, Super Contra, and Galaga. I also loved all the Super Mario Games, TMNT, and Tetris.

Steve,

I threw mine away several years ago

The games you listed were my favorites too! I like Double Dragon 2 also.
Since I love Galaga and don't have a NES, I just play it at Dave & Busters.

Did you have to replace the connector on yours, or is it still running the original? Mine finally quit working no matter how much you blew the cartridge so I bought one of these.

Two Words: Mortal. Kombat.

I played this on the Genesis nonstop when I was little. I have the rom for it on my laptop. I'll play it from time to time.

I was talking to my cousin the other day about "you remember how you used to have to blow in your games to get them to work?!"

After the discussion we fired up Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64

My favorite from the cartridge era is Ocarina of Time, followed by Link to the Past.

Contra for sure here. I dominated TMNT and Mortal Combat / Street Fighter games were where I was at.

Now that I look at it I come off as rather violent.

I should clarify better. I have an original console, but it's not my original console. Mine died years ago. The one I have now is one my sister gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. She got it from a local store that reworks them. That same store also takes the old games on trade so this is where I also got all the games I have. The ones in the pic are my favorites that I really like to play, but I have a few more.
