Talking How Ticked off Sellers get revenge at eBay, with an Auction...

Ok, I sell on eBay. Nothing huge, just one product, about 10 a month or so. Most through my website.

Well today, eBay decided to stick it to us with a 67% Increase in Final Value Fees. yes 67%.

Fees go up from 5.25% to 8.75% of selling price...So how do sellers tell ebay how they feel... They start an auction of course.

I bid but got a bit outbid. Mine was in the $2.00 range.

Here is the Auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...75#description

Bidding is currently up to $1,000,600.00

The Thread is also in the Seller Central Forum.
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.js...=1201663608543

Make sure on the Auction you read the questions and answers section... Priceless.

Oh and spread it around, we're all pissed.

Also Sellers can only leave Positive Feedback, no Negative feedback for buyers, ever....

EDIT: Up over 96 million now..... Take That FeeBay......
BTW- Buyer and seller can agree to not sell, and ebay only gets listing fee. Too Funny.....

Ebay has been my refuge of last resort for buying anything. I stopped buying most things there when they decided anything that could have a bullet in it was evil and prohibited from ever being sold. Then they just started jerking people around with their policies in general.

A: OK not a problem, Its just under 10 degrees and there isn't much ice on the road. I will get the Harley fired up and be on my way. Dream

I don't get it. eBay is still making money on the listing fee. How is this going to negatively affect them?

Fee increases aside (no, I don't like them either), I'm not sure what to think of this. As someone that buys more often than sells (but I do sell as well), I find that over time, the trend has been for sellers to withhold feedback until after they get positive feedback. So, regardless of the seller's performance, if the buyer doesn't leave them positive feedback, the buyer all too often gets no feedback. If as a buyer, you felt the performace of the seller was less than stellar, or just plain bad, and you leave them negative feedback, the seller will retaliate and leave you the buyer negative feedback. IMO, because of this, everyone leaves everyone positive feedback, or none at all, in order to "play the game". The only obligations a buyer has, are: pay with a legitimate funding source, and pay promptly. I always leave prompt positive feeback for buyers that pay promptly, because that is the buyer's only obligation - to pay. Don't misunderstand. I understand that there are scenarios where as a seller, you'd like to leave some buyers negative feedback, but I think (I'm still tossing it around in my head), that if given the choice between the feedback "game" as it's currently played, and the new guidelines, I'd lean toward the new guidelines.

Deadbeat bidders will no longer be able to receive negative marks. It doesn't sound like a better system to me.
Aside from that, another problem is that rarely a buyer will cause problems after they get feedback. I've been an eBayer for a long time, and twice I have had buyers, after receiving positive feedback immediately after paying, contact me with a threat of negative feedback if I don't refund some of thier money.
Both times I reported them to eBay for feedback extortion (it's in the rules) and both times they got a 30 day suspension while I'm still stuck with the negative feedback they gave me. That's why I never leave feedback as a seller until I've received it first.

I don't quite understand this myself. I've always thought (and experienced in the past) that sellers of items on eBay sold or not sold are still charged a fee for placing an item on ebay. Last I remembered it was a percentage of the final bid of an item in some cases. So if an item goes for $1,000,000, doesn't the appropriate percentage get charged on the seller's credit card/paypal account regardless???

EXACTLY! - When I buy on eBay - I pay when the auction is over if that option is available. However, sellers - DO NOT leave feedback until I the BUYER leave feedback for them so they can RETALIATE if necessary, just like the top quote says. It's a sick game and stupid. Then you have a whole bunch of people who write their OWN sets of rules. Like you must pay within 24 hours and blah blah blah. I don't deal with those people. I go buy eBay rules and common decency. I also hate, YOU LEAVE FEEDBACK YOU GET FEEDBACK from sellers. Despise it.

I sell occasionally and whenever someone pays me after an auction or whenever - they get feedback right then and there. Period. That is the buyers ONLY requirement. How fast the payment was made. You have to judge the people your selling/buying from and see how they will respond during the course of the auction and if you need to hold off on feedback because there might be issues brought up later.

I also will not leave feedback for a seller unless they leave it first. I also have been known not to leave negative/neutral because I don't want the seller giving me retaliatory feedback - which I think is pure BS. Especially when I have done nothing wrong.

Ebay has some big flaws that they need to desperately fix. Making it so the buyer only gets positive is kinda dumb. It should be made so if the buyer pays immediately or within a certain time frame - the only option for feeback is positive. If after a certain time and no action has been taken by the buyer (no payment made), negative/neutral feedback can then be left. It should also be made that a seller can NOT receive feedback UNTIL they leave feedback for the buyer.

That all would make sense - yet Ebay does not do it??? Go figure.

With ebay though, can a sellar refuse to sell to a given buyer if they have 'negative marks'?

About the only thing it led to, that I saw, is folks have seperate buyer and seller accounts.

A seller can refuse to sell to anyone they choose. With the old (current) rules, a seller has info about a buyer's history. I never sold to anyone with a bad feedback record. With the new system I won't be able to tell. It encourages the buyers to commit fraud, and increases losses for sellers.

The new rule "Sellers can only leave Positive Feedback, no Negative feedback for buyers, ever" is totally unfair, it can have no outcome other than to make eBay a worse place to buy and sell.

I can see where the feedback changes would stop the jerk sellers who screw people over and get away with it because people are afraid of retaliatory feedback.

But you plug that up, and you just let loose the waves of jerk buyers.

Do what a lot of listings do. They sell the item for a penny and then charge $20 to $30 for shipping.

I dont know wtf you're all talking about. I actually got an email from ebay yesterday specifically stating that ALL fees had been decreased due to the rise in complaints and boycotting from everything ebay. So either they're lying or you're behind by a few months from when they ACTUALLY raised them
