Default Anyone else have format war blues?

I've had my blu-ray player now for about 6 months and love it but i'm really getting burned out reading everyday about this format war as i'm sure a lot of you are as well. Reading everyday about what Paramount, Universal, Dreamworks will all do since Warner's decision and still nothing official from them. I've been watching this war since the very beginning and held off buying one or the other until about 6 months ago and it looks like i made the right choice but this nonsense has got to end, it looks like it's getting closer and closer to doing so but it's still dragging on, officially. I feel like just not buying anything, Blu-ray, standard dvd, anything until this ends but don't know if i could go that far but i sure feel like it. Anyone else feel this way too?. I'd love to read some of your thoughts about this. Thanks friends.

I think most of us that are knowledgeable about the format war would agree that it's just a matter of time before HD-DVD goes the way of the betamax and the dodo bird.... If there is anything left to fear from HD-DVD... I can't think of what it might be.

HD-DVD will live on as a computer storage medium!

Oh wait, Blu Ray already has more capacity and is functionally available.

never mind...

I still occassionaly read the news, nothing really going on. But that does not stop me from buying a blu ray movie every once in a while. I am doing what I can to rtell family and friends about it.

I personally dont think there is much to worry about unless there is Jaw dropping news such as 3 of the major studios drop blu support or something, but I dont think that is going to happen

let's turn our hatred to retailers who still stock HD now.....If they only
stocked Blu maybe we wouldn't pay $29.99 for a new movie at Best Buy

I know this sounds crazy, but we also got to fear a pay off to one of blu's studio to make them go red... or warner changing their mind... its unlikely but anything can happen... i scared myself!! somebody reassure me!!!

The war is over. Soon the mention of HD DVD will be a thing of the past.

I was having serious format war burnout a couple weeks before the Warner announcement. All gone now. The light at the end of the tunnel is in site now and it's just a matter of time before we make it to the other side. Nothing will stop that now. We will possibly see Toshiba hang it up first due to various pressures from all sides to do so and the fact that DUD players are in liquidation mode at the brick and morters with no intent to re-stock beyond what they already have is the real and final nail in the coffin for DUD. If you can barley give the DUD players away with 7 to 9 free movies, Holy Crap! Toshiba will finish this mess soon enough.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I could've sworn the OP said he was tired of hearing about the format war, not scared that Blu might still lose. But I guess everyone is entitled to hear what they wanna hear right Anyways yeah, I'm very tired of it too. I just want to watch good movies and some of them I can't because of this format war

I seriously doubt that once the format war dust has settled, that the prices for BD at Best Buy will go down. Hell, the prices should be cheaper NOW to get people to buy discs. Nope---catalog Fox Blu-Ray discs will still be $34-$39 after all this is over.

Since I own both formats I can watch them all, I did that because I too just want to watch movies in high definition.

I'm tired of both sides bickering constantly over the format war but other then, it doesn't affect me as much as some of the people.

I'm safe no matter which format wins or losses and I still think it will go on for some time, but we will see.

My main issue with the format was is that it's over. I always had some news to look forward to, but now, it's kinda boring.

Blu-Ray won and the result is that there are no more BOGOs, no good discounts on titles, no price reductions of players, no news from Paramount, Universal Ken-the-loser is still a blank-ed-ee-blank, no REAL good release dates/titles announced, still no Warner HD-DVD exclusives announced for Blu (even though BD 2.0 is out now), no BD 2.0 for the PS3, no DTS-HD MA for the PS3...nothing. It's like they quit trying.

Everything went silent.

I always questioned why the BD camp never really delivered a knock-out blow and now that WB has done it for them, it's like they're taking a break when they really need to be blowing it out of the water. I understand they can't make Paramount do anything, but things aren't getting any better since WB called HD-DUD quits.

I think you're wrong about that, I think you will see some changes in lossless audio codecs by Sony and they will be implemented in the PS3 and any new stand-alone players by Sony.

They haven't quit, their working very hard behind closed doors and we should see some improvements and announcements very soon that should make us all very happy.
