Default Terror Train - Remake coming from Tubi

‘Terror Train’ Remake Coming This Halloween from Tubi!

Quote:
The classic 1980 slasher movie Terror Train starring Jamie Lee Curtis is getting a remake this Halloween season, with Tubi announcing their very own Terror Train this morning!

Tubi has collaborated with Incendo on the remake of the cult classic horror film. A Tubi Original, Terror Train is slated to premiere this October as part of the platform’s successful annual month-long Halloween-inspired genre celebration, “Terror on Tubi.”

Watch Tubi’s Terror Train remake trailer below!

In this contemporary reimagining, eerie excitement is in the air as Alana (Robyn Alomar) and a group of college seniors board a party train for a Halloween-themed bash, but their fun spirals into fear as attendees are killed off one by one by an unknown killer. Concealed by costumes and plagued with chaos, everyone is a suspect. As the party train continues full steam ahead, Alana must race against the rails to find the killer before she becomes the next victim.

The new cast is led by Canadian actress Robyn Alomar (“Utopia Falls”), as well as Tim Rozon (“Schitt’s Creek”). The remake is written by Ian Carpenter and Aaron Martin (“Slasher”), and is directed by long-time Incendo collaborator Philippe Gagnon (“Amber Alert”).

“We can’t wait for viewers to take a ride on the Terror Train, the tentpole for our annual ‘Terror on Tubi’ event in October,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer, Tubi. “With an incredibly talented team of filmmakers and star-making performances, this movie continues to cement Tubi as a key destination for horror fans.”

Said Brook Peters, Executive Producer, Incendo, “Our strategy to diversify and grow our production slate is coming to fruition and we couldn’t be more pleased to find such an incredible partner in Tubi for this project. Tubi has had enormous success with horror-genre content, and we can’t wait for them to bring our take on Terror Train to their audience in the U.S.”

It's not sacrilegious to remake Terror Train because the original is a flawed movie with a good premise that can absolutely be updated and improved upon. However, what I do find sacrilegious is this semi-recent trend of doing a streaming reboot/remake/late sequel to these old cult classics in the most cheap-o, bland, generic, shitty way imaginable... Leprechaun Returns, Jacob's Ladder, Critters Attack!, etc.

I'd love a company like A24 to setup a division just devoted to being the custodian of these old IP's where they get weird, interesting, auteur film-makers to do a new take on this stuff where it isn't just cookie cutter, formulaic, unimaginative shit. It's better than this pointless, forgettable rubbish. Why bother at all? I don't get it.

Never heard of Tubi but this looks good, I'll definitely check it out if I have the opportunity. I love the original but it is ripe for remaking also.

I don't think it would fly with today's audiences.

Of they do the same plot twist then that means the movie has to be extremely good to carry itself so to speak. Might be tough. The original is decent. It isn’t like top tier horror or anything. It drags at times, IMO. But , this is what we do these days.

I’ll definitely watch a Terror Train remake even if my expectations are in the gutter for it. I watch a ton of z-grade trash as it is, and if this is the worst outcome, it’ll still be in line with other straight to streaming slashers so I know what I’m getting into.

I don’t think the original’s all that good but this probably isn’t the team to remake it into a gem.

At least the clown villain looks happy with a smile on his face all the time.

I'll have to check it out at least, though it looks just okay, but It's free on Tubi, which I like.

Speaking of trains, Horror Express is a must see classic Hammer style horror film with Peter Cushing as the lead with an evil being on board the train, and has a newer blu ray release out there, though it looks like it's region B.
