Any new extras/goodies? Or just a repackage?

No idea. Knowing Fox, probably just a repackage.

There's a guy on another thread blaming collectors for studios only doing re-releases. I'd like to see who he'll blame this on. Fox: forget about Aliens - give us The Abyss and True Lies.

The existing Blu-ray of Aliens is quite a stunner as is, although there is some debate about the authenticity of the look compared to its original theatrical release.

I thought it was proven that the teal was closer to what Cameron had on film just like with The Terminator. The magenta tint of the Aliens DVD was certainly wrong.

There was article posted on reddit that said that there were a couple of scenes added that no one has seen yet, and the Burke scene was also reincorporated back in. But of course it was removed.

For every bit of proof, there will be a bit of un-proof and people on each side defending their views like their children. It's not a debate that will ever end which is why I choose to stay on the sidelines and just enjoy my movies however I can.

Yeah, another re-issue with a nice new cover (I would hope) and maybe some swag like the first film got a couple years ago. Pass.

If so, easy pass for me. Shame they're not announcing a UHD release, even if it's only this one instead of the set. (Maybe next year with Covenant?)

This isn't surprising, really, considering this was available to order months ago, on Alien Day:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=276763

The exact same thing happened with Alien two years ago:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=245104

At the same time, the US got the 35th Anniversary repackaged disc.

Unfortunately, all the discs outside of Japan are identical, and even the "new" Japanese discs use identical encodes, but simply toss out any non-Japanese dubs and replace them with the existing Japanese dub tracks from previous video and television versions.

That's what I'm leaning toward.

The existing Blu-ray of Aliens works for me anyway, regardless of the debate.

With a really cool repackaging I would bite, since it's one of my favorites.

Would be nice if it came with collectibles like the Alien 35th Anniversary edition did. With that, new packaging, and a digital copy, I'd probably double dip.

At the end of July I'll be seeing Aliens on the big screen in 70mm. I don't have a photographic memory but I'll do my best to remember how it looks.
