I'm in. I love me some Italian sword and sandal films, and it has Christopher Lee.

Just got the German edition, wonder whether this will be the extended version with the prologue like that one.

Eh. I hope this means Arrow releases a UK version.

This is easily one of Bava's wildest visually. I really enjoyed it when I was going through most of his filmography a few years ago. I'd put it right up there with Blood and Black Lace.

I hope Kino plans to access the new German BD print, which is splendid.

I also think that Kino might include the alternate US release version of the film as an extra, if the US version isn't released separately. The two versions would make a great two-fer release, ala Kino's theatrical/musicalized two-fer of JACK THE GIANT KILLER.

I'm a big Bava fan but I've only seen his horror movies - if you vouch for this cakefactory I'll check it out, as I know you have pretty high standards.

I need to branch out and catch up with Bava's non horror works.

It's a very fun film with stunning visuals, and several supernatural sequences.

Tim Lucas contributed an audio commentary track to the German Blu.

And, me too, it seems!

Not sure I need to double-dip unless there is some wicked extras. Well, unless there are English subs for the Italian audio track.

Me three.

I'm still glad I bought it though.

Might also buy the Kino version too if there's extras.

Tim Lucas had posted this a few weeks ago...

...so maybe the Kino might have the US version.

Would have thought Joe Dante had a print in his collection, but maybe not.

Harry from Garagehouse replied to him that it's not an uncommon thing but his print was very nice. He likely is the source.

Here is what I'm hearing:

2K restoration of the European print HERCULES AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. English and Italian audio tracks will be available. There will be English subtitles for the Italian version, and subtitles for the hearing impaired for the English audio version.

The disc will also include the US cut HERCULES IN THE HAUNTED WORLD, a 2K scan of a collector's 35mm print.

This isn't an official Kino announcement, but just what I'm hearing.

That's a direct quote from Kino Insider on Hometheaterforum, so it's as good as official.

Are they using the restoration that is on the German release which I'm hearing is amazing ? What cuts are on the German blu if anyone knows and there are no English subs on the Italian version ?
