Default The Dark Knight vs Iron Man *poll

Which film did you prefer?

I loved both films, but I'll give a slight edge to TDK.

Oops, if this has been polled before. I did a quick search and didn't find anything. I'm actually very curious. It seems that TDK gets more praise, but also more haters.

I simply can't understand all the praise over Iron Man. It just seemed like any other comic book movie whereas TDK stepped on the bar, squated down and Superman-leapt off of it. I'm not saying it was a bad movie, I definitely found it enjoyable but not anywhere near TDK in terms of awesomeness.

Love them both but The Dark Knight is an achievement in film-making and Heath's performance was so brilliant that I would give the edge to TDK however Iron Man was a big surprise for me this summer.

I totally agree---Iron Man just didn't thrill me at all-- it was enjoyable,
it was a good movie, nothing more.

the best super hero franchises currently to me are the new BATMANS
and the SPIDER-MAN trilogy (yes, including the 3rd one!)

Agreeness. I thought it was damn good, but the mediocre plot and weak main enemy weren't enought to dethrone the king. TDK all the way.

Iron Man, for its solid structure, pacing, casting, and script.

1. Better main actor (Bale can't hold a candle to Robert Downey, Jr.) and better supporting lady. Obviously, Heath Ledger blew Jeff Bridges away (who also made a fantastic villain), but not enough to tip the scales toward TDK.

2. I also have to give it to Iron Man, because it was the very first Iron Man film. It was the "coming to be" story, whereas Batman was already established in Begins.

3. The hero himself. Both Iron Man and Batman are supposed to be ordinary humans with extraordinary capabilities due to the gadgets they possess.. in this respect Iron Man is simply more believable. Batman, for some reason in Nolan's reboot is obviously empowered to some degree with superhuman strength. He can crush a moving van with nothing but his legs and can also fall hundreds of feet with someone on top of him and not suffer a scratch.

4. Pacing. Iron Man had the perfect runtime. The Dark Knight was excessive with it quickly turning Harvey Dent into 2-Face and having him quickly be some sort of bad guy until he died. It added an extra hour to the film when it could've ended with him in the hospital or escaping just after Joker blew it up. This would've left us with a solid, established villain for a third installment.

5. Script. The Joker had some of the BEST lines that'll be remembered for a while.. and that's unique for a film like this. I have a feeling that people will be saying, "Why so serious?" for years. But the dialogue from Oldman's character, along with some of the secondary characters that seem compelled to tell the viewer EVERYTHING that is going on as if we can't get it by ourselves. I simply hate it when a movie does this.

I agree here, but I'd like to add:

4} TDK is starting to wear people out with the Hype. Personally if I see another Heath Ledger this or TDK that, I'm going to throw up on the nearest person's shoes.

I almost said Iron Man because it was a nice surprise, but TDK blew me away the minute the WB logo came up.
