Thumbs up The Big Hit

I noticed that no one commented about The Big Hit from Sony Pictures. I watched that title the other day.

There was some film grain at the very beginning (when the names are being flashed across the screen). After that point, I did not notice film grain. The picture was vibrant and detailed. The sound was great and the bass on the explosions were tight and deep. I can't imagine anyone with a HDTV being disappointed with this picture (especially from a regular film transfer).

This is a great comedy/action flick. It was a sleeper hit, but now you can enjoy it too! Open up "The Big Hit" and enjoy it! It's a very good transfer and even better comedy!

I watched this last week, and I thought it was a solid BD as well... I'm sure there are others out there that would scrutinize the disc a lot harder than I did, but there wasn't anything that popped out to me as horrible.

Ever since the 7/25 wave of Sony BDs, there really hasn't been a sub-par disc in my eyes... Silent Hill was borderline in a couple of scenes, but decent nonetheless.

Can anyone confirm or verify that the extras are the same on the new image release of Big hit as the sony release, or if they have ported over the other features from the dvd that didnt make the sony bd release.

Lou Diamond Phillips is absolutely amazing in this, he totally makes the movie. His character and performance is hilarious. He should do more comedy. The movie itself is such a weird mixed bag but any time Lou is onscreen it's hilarious.

Check out the current season of Brooklyn 99. He's hilarious in the two episodes that have aired so far.

I wonder if this might get picked up by Arrow or some other label for a new 4k scan (preferably on 4k uhd). It's been like 16 years since the last restoration.

I'd definitely pick it up! I don't know how likely a 4k is, but I'd even go for a newly remastered blu. Very fun, underrated movie.

I was lucky enough to catch this at a theater during it's short run there. The action scenes were very well done and really popped on the big screen.
I still have the ancient Colombia/Tri-Star DVD but would def upgrade if someone like Arrow got involved.
The one scene in the movie I remember being curious about involved an interaction between Lou Diamond Phillips and Antonio Sabato,Jr (whose work i'm not that familiar with) where Phillips walks into a room and surprises Sabato, who is in drag and wearing heavy female make up. Phillips bugs his eyes, Sabato cringes, Phillips walks out of the room. No dialogue. I'm not sure if Sabato was shown at all after that. Was it some kind of gay joke subplot that was cut?
Solid action-comedy genre entry. If Marky Mark had been more famous at the time he might have got a franchise.

By the movie being an action comedy, that particular scene could've meant a comedic moment that Sabato may have a been a secret crossdresser and Phillip walked in on him, turned around and left.

Your suggestion makes perfect sense, but if so, it was a poorly done joke. It came out of nowhere & not a chuckle in the theater was heard. More like... "What the hell was that?"
Elliot Gould & Christina Applegate had to work for their laughs at least.

It depends on the person's sense of humor. Seeing an actor dressed in woman's clothes briefly or playing a female character in a movie or in a TV show can be funny, especially when it's a comedy. It's been a long time since I've seen The Big Hit, and I'll have to see it again to recall that particular scene.

Oh Yes.
Was wearing a Catholic schoolgirl outfit, or something like that.
Would definitely chow down...
