You better believe it. Uzumaki is already great news, but even more live action films? Even better.

I think they probably picked up a few Toei films to go along with Uzumaki. Maybe Message from Space with the Japanese audio finally? They did release the TV show.

I would love to see them venture out and release some Yakuza films. After seeing the trailer for Tokyo Vice, I'm really hoping this gains some momentum for interest in the genre in the US.

I feel like I've been waiting eons for this, Suicide Circle, Noroi, the Curse and Noriko's Dinner Table to hit Blu. Hoping for a top of the line release. Uzumaki deserves it.

Over on the Japanese thread there seems to be some confusion if this is an upscale or not. Hopefully we find out soon.

Discotek said it's the DI, which technically should have been 2k at least.

I trust Discotek to do things right so I’m not terribly concerned with the details. I’m definitely picking this up and I’m excited to see what else comes of this Nihon Nights label. Hoping this label will be successful.

I didn't watch the stream, but they said that for sure? I just went to the time stamp at 1:46: 30 and they do refer to it as a upscale, so maybe that's why there is some confusion?

Discotek stream comments paraphrased below. At the end is when they answer a question about some festival screening 4k remaster:

Pointless, very early digital intermediate printed back to film (and not 1080p)
Would look no different from what they would put out

Comments about the transfer at reveal (1hr+ mark of stream):

Really early digital intermediate, not as sharp as HD remaster, but looks quite a bit better than the DVD's did.

So much CG and digital effects, this upcoming blu-ray release is likely where the limit is.

I'm also now remembering there is still that upcoming black and white Uzumaki anime set for later this year (at least I hope it's still this year). 2022 may be the year of Uzumaki.

Ah good, so it's a scan of the film-out. Better than taking the straight-up DI and upscaling it imo.
