PS3 Surround Sound question - Blu-ray Forum

I hook my PS3 up to my HDTV via HDMI cable and I get the works right. I also have a surround sound system hooked to the DVD and TV. Is there anyway to get surround sound with my set up?

Post Script: I'm betting some one has already posted this and an answer has been given.

Do the speaker wires connect directly to the DVD player?

If the answer is yes, then you have to check to see if the back of that DVD player has an Optical Audio input. In that case, you will be able to get surround with an Optical Cable running from the PS3 to the DVD player. But, you will have to go into the PS3 and adjust the system audio options accordingly.

make sure in PS3 settings you set audio output to Optical (bitstream)
