PS3 surround sound hook up question - Blu-ray Forum

I can't seem to get my PS3 through my surround sound to work. I have an HDMI cable straight to the tv and then a Fiberoptic cable to my reciever. Best Buy said that is all I would need. It dosen't seem to be working. Any thoughts? usually I'm pretty good at these things.

In the PS3 settings set optical out to bitstream. Does your receiver accept HDMI? I am guessing not from the connections you have made.

Set your PS3's audio output to Optical and Bitstream. Connect the optical cable from the PS3 to your receiver.

important first step.

...then as already said, make sure it is on bitstream.

...also make sure you configured the input on the receiver for digital optical.

It does have HDMI but I'm not sure if it is an in or out. I'll look later tonight and let you know..

If it's the same salesman that told me you can't get HD on a 4:3 TV you are in trouble..
