United Kingdom Fantastic Four Blu-ray Question

Does it contain the 120 minute extended version? I picked this up on DVD for £3 a few years ago and thought it improved the film (still not as good as it could've been, but better than the theatrical version I think).

No, its the Theatrical. The Extended is just the theatrical with the deleted scenes re-instated though..

Remember the bizarre 2 different versions of the theatrical cut of Fantastic Four on DVD, depending on the country?

The Planetarium scene is some, and the Statue of Liberty scene in others, and other cuts and differences here and there.

Looks like the UK disc has the Statue Of Liberty scene, compared to the German for instance has the other, and lots more extras. Not a fan of the movie, haven't seen it all the way through, but why did Fox put this out without the extensive extras is beyond me.

But that's Fox!

I was thinking the same question yesterday, great minds.... Shame they didn't include the two cuts on the BD.

On the Spider-man boxset I know it has 2.1 but does it have the theatrical cut as well? We should have a sticky thread for all the BD's with Extended/Directors/Unseen/Unrated Cut's included.

Yes, both cuts. Interestingly the 2.1 version has the 'punch over headbutt' replacement, specially designed to avoid problems with the UK's BBFC and their anti-headbutt stance at the time. Personally I prefer the blu-ray's US 'headbutt friendly' theatrical version. Which is on the UK bd. Kinda funny that the BBFC specifically objected to this one area of violence for a while...Batman Begins uncut '12' rating showed that it was now acceptable. Odd.

Fingers crossed the Attack of the Clones BD has the headbutt re-instated as well. Otherwise it looks like the force is strong with Jango Fett.

Just curious, since I never saw the extended version: do you know if the 2.1 version featured on the US BD release includes this replacement as well, or is it only the UK/EU BDs that are "censored"?

Yet it's still 100 times better, IMO.

I hate the theatrical cut, the extended is actually a decent movie.
It lends more weight to the Dr. Doom. character, instead of the lightweight baddie he is in the theatrical version.

The extended cut never made it Blu-ray.

I realise that this post is over 12 years old but just in case anyone is reading back through this thread, it is worth flagging that Sony subsequently replaced the headbutt in the original cut too, so while the original UK Blu-ray is uncut, the re-released version is not.
