Canada Austin Powers Collection - Canadian release - Region?

Hi there,

I recently ordered the Austin Powers Collection via Amazon.com.
To my surprise this morning, and following closer inspection, it turns out that the boxset I received was in fact its Canadian counterpart.

My question is simple: is this release region free and is it worth keeping over the US version? (PQ and AQ)

The reason I'm asking myself is because it was released by Alliance and not New Line Cinema and thus I'm questioning whether or not I should keep it or send it back and look for it elsewhere.

Thanks a lot if you can help me.

PS: Here's a picture of the backcover (sorry about the crappy quality):

I told myself the same thing, but since these were released by Alliance, I was having my doubts.

Okay, upon even closer inspection (can't believe I didn't check the bottom spine it shows that the release is Region 1:

Which leads me to think that either they don't know what they're saying, or that the release is locked to Region A.

Where's the French? Definitely a Canadian release, but why don't I see any French on the package?

I don't know about the region coding though, but I always figured that unless it was a Canadian only release the actual discs were just duplicates of the US equivilent.

Also, question, did you order from the Amazon.com marketplace or directly from Amazon themself?

Marketplace, wanted to save 7 bucks. Nowhere did it say it was the Canadian release.
And even if I did overlook that, am I to blame for ordering an American product on an American website?

I don't think they're a Canadian-only release, but given the fact that they were released by Alliance, I was questioning the region coding.

Regarding French, it's even more weird since the seller's from Québec.

I'll contact the seller to ask what's going on.

EDIT: No no he did say he was shipping from the US:

Seller: inetvideo

Rating:96% positive over the past 12 months (103732 ratings.) 203447 lifetime ratings.

Shipping: In Stock. Ships from NY, United States Expedited shipping available International shipping available See Shipping Rates

Comments: ******BRAND NEW****** ** Over 1.5 million orders shipped worldwide and more than 500 000 items in stock, BUY FROM A TRUSTED SOURCE, ESTABLISHED SINCE 1998 - INETVIDEO ~~~

sorry, wasn't trying to imply it was in any way your fault. Just wanted to know if it was Marketplace as it seemed weird that Amazon would sned you a canadian version.

I see it's iNetVideo though. I've seen a couple other members complain about them as well. Great company, but they aren't exactly selling the product they are advertising. They run their own sites as well

Inetvideo.com and inetvideo.ca

All their shipments (regardless of where you order from) ship from Quebec I think.

I've a few Canadian New Line ports,(Domino and Appaloosa), both are region free and contain no French writing on the cover or any options on the disc for French audio or subs. You should be fine with the Austin Powers set.

In another Austin Powers thread on this forum someone mentioned that the Australian edition of the first movie is the uncut version (the US release is cut), so if this is the Australian edition you should be glad and keep it.

Don't know if it's region free though...

Demoni... Did you even read this topic? It is about the Canadian release. Not the Australian (which has not been released yet). Not so groovy man...

Hey no sweat, I was on the defensive for no reason. It's all cool.

Well I guess they'll have to add me to their list of duped buyers. :P
I did email them and am waiting for an explanation.

I guess I should've done more research but I didn't think of doing so given the seller's good feedback.

So you guys reckon I shouldn't do anything and just keep this release? Because so far I've only gotten assumptions from peeps (which I highly appreciate of course), but I'd like to hear it from someone who owns it.

EDIT: According to this page , the release is Region A...

Furthermore, this page also indicates the release is Region A.

I'm sorry for bumping this topic but it's been playing my head in ALL day and I would greatly appreciate some more help.

That page means nothing, merely a site playing it safe. Crack the damn thing open, I'll bet that it's not region locked.

I bought a Police Blu Ray from Tower and it was a Canadian version,no probs. though because it'e exactly the same version sold in the US at BEST BUY ONLY,I was very happy to get it much cheaper at tower!!!,But I've never heard of Amazon selling Canadian counerparts, maybe the Austin Set was sold from a 3rd Party seller!!! I dont know about these Canadian Allaince Blu's,I didnt know they had the right to so many companies like New Line, ect? The Police Blu was just a Canadian branch of Universal music,FYI Towers CD's from Universal Music are also Canadian.other than the country, there THE SAME!!! I trust Tower and Amazon, not so sure about Inetvideo,I've heard of people having probs.w/ them.

I also ordered from inetvideo - guess I am getting the Canadian version as well. I am region B only tho..

This is going to cost me a fortune to send back if it's region locked.

We're in the same boat then.

I think I'll end up opening it and if they don't work, I'll send them right back and ask for a refund.
