Hi there,
I recently ordered the Austin Powers Collection via Amazon.com. To my surprise this morning, and following closer inspection, it turns out that the boxset I received was in fact its Canadian counterpart. My question is simple: is this release region free and is it worth keeping over the US version? (PQ and AQ) The reason I'm asking myself is because it was released by Alliance and not New Line Cinema and thus I'm questioning whether or not I should keep it or send it back and look for it elsewhere. Thanks a lot if you can help me. PS: Here's a picture of the backcover (sorry about the crappy quality): ![]() |

Okay, upon even closer inspection (can't believe I didn't check the bottom spine it shows that the release is Region 1: ![]() Which leads me to think that either they don't know what they're saying, or that the release is locked to Region A. Last edited by Kynch; 02-06-2009 at 10:05 AM. |

Where's the French? Definitely a Canadian release, but why don't I see any French on the package?
I don't know about the region coding though, but I always figured that unless it was a Canadian only release the actual discs were just duplicates of the US equivilent. Also, question, did you order from the Amazon.com marketplace or directly from Amazon themself? |

And even if I did overlook that, am I to blame for ordering an American product on an American website? I don't think they're a Canadian-only release, but given the fact that they were released by Alliance, I was questioning the region coding. Regarding French, it's even more weird since the seller's from Québec. I'll contact the seller to ask what's going on. EDIT: No no he did say he was shipping from the US: Seller: inetvideo Rating:96% positive over the past 12 months (103732 ratings.) 203447 lifetime ratings. Shipping: In Stock. I see it's iNetVideo though. I've seen a couple other members complain about them as well. Great company, but they aren't exactly selling the product they are advertising. They run their own sites as well Inetvideo.com and inetvideo.ca All their shipments (regardless of where you order from) ship from Quebec I think. |

In another Austin Powers thread on this forum someone mentioned that the Australian edition of the first movie is the uncut version (the US release is cut), so if this is the Australian edition you should be glad and keep it.
![]() Don't know if it's region free though... |

I did email them and am waiting for an explanation. I guess I should've done more research but I didn't think of doing so given the seller's good feedback. So you guys reckon I shouldn't do anything and just keep this release? Because so far I've only gotten assumptions from peeps (which I highly appreciate of course), but I'd like to hear it from someone who owns it. EDIT: According to this page , the release is Region A... Last edited by Kynch; 02-06-2009 at 03:39 PM. |

I bought a Police Blu Ray from Tower and it was a Canadian version,no probs. though because it'e exactly the same version sold in the US at BEST BUY ONLY,I was very happy to get it much cheaper at tower!!!,But I've never heard of Amazon selling Canadian counerparts, maybe the Austin Set was sold from a 3rd Party seller!!! I dont know about these Canadian Allaince Blu's,I didnt know they had the right to so many companies like New Line, ect? The Police Blu was just a Canadian branch of Universal music,FYI Towers CD's from Universal Music are also Canadian.other than the country, there THE SAME!!! I trust Tower and Amazon, not so sure about Inetvideo,I've heard of people having probs.w/ them.
