Default Why are Region B keepcases wider than Region A?

This may sound like a stupid question but does anyone know why the European cases are the same as the ps3 (Fatter than US.) Why do the movie companies release their movies in lovely slim cases in America, but give us the bigger ones. I much rather the slim ones.

Tried a search but couldn't find answer.

In France at least that's definitely not the case (ahaha). PS3 cases are almost 50p thicker. Given the thickness of our movies cases, I doubt than US could get something thinner.

I believe it is the UK releases that are thicker, like the PS3 cases. All scandinavian releases I own are thin cases even small distributors cases. It kind of bugged me too. At least it is a good way to recognize a UK release

Dear OP

I cant tell you why they decided to release the fatter cases in the UK- but I can tell you this, I prefer them over the slimmer.

Please know that UK is under the REGION B as rest of Europe, and considering the rest of Europe is releasing in slimmer US cases, it should be no problem to import within the borders of EU at no extra charge.

Fatter cases give better overview and fits better in the overall with my DVD collection. I find the slim cases to slim to inspect when they are on the shelve.

Long live fat cases!

Long live thicker cases?

Because they're as thick as your DVDs?

Glad you have unlimited real estate on your shelves. But, honestly, that's not the case with most of us.

Most of the UK releases I own are in thicker cases, however some of the UK releases I have are in thin cases, such as Full Metal Jacket and Swordfish (both of which I know exist in thicker cases as I've seen them in stores). The Seventh Seal is also in a thin case but so far I've only seen it in a thin case. It doesn't really bother me if they are thick or thin cases, although with my severely limited shelf space, the thin ones would be more beneficial.

Here (Switzerland) I have noticed that they use the slim cases except Fox - why they use the ticker ones I don't know but it doesn't bother me really.

We have the thicker cases in Oz as well. Same as the UK.

I prefer the thinner US cases - saves space!

The nice thing about the Fat cases are that they're sturdy, but the thin cases obviously save space. I like having a few fat ones around...it might have bothered me, but I have some boxsets that are bigger so there isn't perfect uniformity.

I wonder why the movie companies decide to use thin ones in some countries, and the thicker ones in others.

i am yet to suffer the pain of thin cases,

all my movies are UK versions at the moment, all with thicker cases,... which i think look perfect,... i am importing Underworld from the US soon, so it will probably look out of place.

Thin Cases

They surely do save on shelf space. I think we get thick cases in the UK to make us think we are getting more for our money, what with prices here . Sorry... it does not work

The thick cases are much more durable than the thin ones. I can see why Sony went with them for their PS3 videogames.
