Default Backlit Keyboards on Laptops

How many notebooks besides the MacBook Air have backlit keyboards so that one can see the keys in dim-to-dark areas?

Okay, thanks. Any others? I think it should be a standard requirement for all laptops (and desktops, needless to say) as it can be a useful feature.

After my current laptop dies, I will never buy another one without back lighting. I can type no problem without looking, it's all the other buttins that I need to see.

The Apple PowerBook line (2003-2006), as well as today's MacBook Pro and MacBook Air lines all have backlit keyboards.

So, besides the Dell there are no other PCs that offer it?

That would be correct. I love it. The MBP senses the light around it and lights up the keyboard if necessary. It's not based upon the system clock like some backlits are.

Like I said, I think it should come standard on all laptops and desktops, period.

A quick google search will turn up a panasonic expensive laptop that has this, as well as several desktop keyboards available.

Well, I find Apple to be somewhat overrated (especially in the style department)... so, to each his/her own.

You're probably right. But my "overrated" laptop has a backlit keyboard standard, probably the best built-in cam/mic combo available, an ingenious touchpad control mechanism, comes pre-installed with an OS that is unlikely to EVER be infected with a virus or spyware, has free software that does what most PC users pay hundreds of dollars to accomplish in a less efficient manner, and has fabulous (and inexpensive!) support for both hardware and software.

Macs might not be perfect, but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy my overrated laptop far more than the alternatives. I switched about 18 months ago, and it was probably the best tech decision I ever made, aside from Blu.

Again, it's all about personal tastes/opinions.

Can you buy a Mac laptop for less than 600$ ? i paid mine 599$ during Xmas.

Btw you know that the only reason mac don't have the number of virus that windows have is because hacker don't give a **** about 9% of the platform market right now

But if Mac ever get with the 20%-30% range one day.. Hello! Attack and crap

I do.
I have no need for a backlit keyboard, especially when this PC laptop is playing a Blu-ray Disc.
