Going solo seems to be a natural progression for many artists that were once part of a band, although sometimes it was forced upon them by a breakup. Whatever the reason, these artists got down to business and created some amazing music on their own. Guys like Peter Gabriel and Sting became hugely successful after they left. Diana Ross and Teddy Pendergrass did likewise in the R&B scene, and there are plenty of other examples.
