I'm considering getting a PS3 as a Blu-ray player, in addiction to already having a BD-ROM drive, I want to play Blu-rays on my TV and I've heard its a great player.

Are there any good games on the PS3? I mean the Wii has Mario Galaxy, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Smash Bros. Brawl, and The XBox 360 has Halo 3, Bioshock, and Viva Pinyata.

Is there anything fun on the PS3? All I can think of is the upcoming Final Fantasy game.

Uh yeah! The PS3 has Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank, Folklore, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Motorstorm, Unreal Tournament 3, Resistance, and this year will get Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Tekken 6, Final Fantasy XIII and vs XIII (although most likely 2009 titles)among many others.

I dont know if you own a 360 but if not there are also great multiplatform games like Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Virtua Fighter 4 and Orange Box to consider

Current: Resistance (Best game ever!!!), Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, and Virtua Tennis (Virtua Tennis is also available for the 360)

Well Uncharted was good, but short. Burnout Paradise is solid. If you liked card games like magic Eye of Judgment is for you. Heavely sword is great, but rent it or get it used, short game. Call of duty 4 is fun. Then if you want a fast shoter go with Unreal 3. Resistance is a must too.

Lets not forget Killzone 2 that will be out later. I personally love my PS3 although I would like to see more good RPGs. Right now the PS3 is reminding me of the 360 with so many FPS games. They need to change that because the two previous Playstations were so popular because of large libraries with different genres of games.

If you don't feel like shelling out tons of money for a half dozen games off the bat, I'd suggest you start with the surest bets for the PS3.

Uncharted is a must own for every PS3 owner.

Depending on what genre you like, you can go with Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, UT3, or CoD4, MLB 08 The Show, etc.

Games to look ahead to: Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, Killzone 2.

Well some of those games sound a little interesting. I'll have ot look in to Uncharted in more detail. I'm not in to FPS, racing, sports, or fighting unless they have something very special and unique about their game play.

I don't own a 360 but I PC Game a little and Portal is frikkin' sweet. I Just checked I see that The Orange Box is out on the PS3, though I wouldn't go to the bother of re-buying it. Same goes for oblivion.

If anything would convince me to buy a PS3 it'd be FF XIII if it were out, so I have to think whether it's worth it to buy to use as a Blu-ray player alone for the time being. Knowing that in the future - FF XIII will come along (probably 2010 in the UK I'd imagine)

The graphics look amazing for the PS3, I played one in a store and was impressed by the graphics, just not the game play of the game I was playing (some fighting game I'd never heard of)

It seems like Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII Versus are going to be right up your alley but they won't hit the US until the end of this year if we are lucky.

I saw you mentioned Castlevania, you can download the PS1 version off the PS store.

Is Castlevania on the PS1 like the GBA/DS ones or is it like the old NES/SNES ones? I prefer the GBA/DS ones, they're more Metroid-like and less action based. I've never seen the PS1 version.

I've had a PS3 for about a year and their catalog is just beginning to develop.

With a handful of exclusive [Right now, Eye of Judgement and Folklore].

Uncharted, Rachet and Clank, Heavenly Sword.

Those are must own for PS3 right there. Especially Uncharted, the graphics are phenomenal.
I don't think you'll be disappointed if you atleast give it a try.

Beside, why do you have to worry about buying any games for the PS3?
Just download all the demo's and play first. It's free anyways.

To put it straight, PS3 has WAY better games coming up this year than any other console.
Afterall, 2008 is indeed PS3 year.

folklore is a great game with lots of download content avalible

if your into music games get rock band instead of guitar hero 3. because rock band is better and there songs on the playstation network are cheaper than guitar hero. if your kinda a casual gamer and enjoy wii bowling. get high velocity bowling of the playstation store only $10 and its much better than wii bowling. just some sugestions i dont think have been mentioned.
