I saw this last night. Was the only one in the theater which was nice but it was also unfortunate that more people aren't seeing it. I think this is one of the best films of the year with a great ending. I didn't think they'd go there but it was what I wanted to happen so I was very pleased that they did. It was cathartic. Thandiwe Newton is incredible. She'll be overlooked during awards season which is a shame. She is Oscar-worthy.

If you happen to have this playing nearby go see it.

Director of this movie was a professor of mine in college. Glad to see him making his debut. I'll have to go check it out

Saw this last night as a double feature with See How They Run. It felt emotionally draining with how downbeat it was. I thought the escalation was going to be largely one-sided but
[Show spoiler]towards the end it felt like the professor was just lashing out at the brothers for hunting. I thought she was going to find out they were part of a poaching ring or something but I'm not even sure if what they were doing was illegal.
The part in the middle just focusing on the university stuff felt kind of weird.
[Show spoiler]I liked how the scenes of the hurricane causing a flood were worked into the movie and how their significance wasn't revealed until later.
One interesting thing I noticed was that the song Where or When was also used in a Thandiwe Newton movie from last year, Reminiscence.

Blu-ray from RLJE on February 28th.

Very intense and thought-provoking little movie. Will definitely pick it up, especially with RLJE's $14.99 or less pricing.

I am curious to see this as James Lee Burke is one of my favorite authors of al time and this is based on a short story of his. The director also made a short film adaptation Winter Light, which is the name of the short story. I can understand why they did not use that title for a full length movie to not get confused with the Bergman film. Hopefully the blu=ray has the short film as an extra.

Site review is live with 20 screenshots. Damn, I kind of hated this one but the Blu-ray is at least solid.

Thumbs down God's Country (Thandiwe Newton Drama/Thriller)

Just watched this atrocious, nonsensical film (for me) and it was/is definitely not my “cup of tea”!

I sure wish I would stop picking these bad movies on blind-buys that are not good for/to me.

The only decent thing in this movie was the beautiful landscapes!
