I'm looking to expand my Blu-ray collection and I'm wondering what people think are the best Gangster movies available on newly released Blu-ray, and would appreciate peoples opinions. Thanks in advance.

Here we'll certainly go with why Goodfellas and Casino are crap blu-rays.
![]() But they are 2 of the best gangster films on blu-ray. Also see: Godfather collection Scarface American Gangster True Romance The Town soon to come to blu: State of Grace |

Have to check my collection list as it has been so long ago since I saw a Gangster BD movie.
But the ones I remember enjoying the most are (in order): Once Upon A Time in America Casino Sexy Beast Bonnie & Clyde A History of Violence Last edited by Leterface; 02-23-2015 at 08:54 PM. |

Aside from the fact that the latter will be a lot less confusing for current participants. |

People are rehashing the same gangster titles. All the OP needed to do was read that old thread. He didn't even need to create a new one.

Goodfellas (wait for the new release in April/May)
Donnie Brasco (theatrical is a better cut of the film, extended has lossless audio - I say theatrical is the way to go) The Godfather I & II (I don't really consider these gangster movies but they're definitely great movies about gangsters so why nitpick) Reservoir Dogs Eastern Promises Animal Kingdom Billy Bathgate (sometimes it's a little too philosophical to feel like a gangster movie and it's starting to show its age but still worth a look) The Ultimate Gangster Collection: Classics is a great set but it's very much in 'if you like that sort of thing' territory. Great movies can be timeless and there are some classics in that set. But filmmaking and acting were a bit different in the thirties. Forewarned is forearmed and whatnot. And who can talk about gangsters without veering off into heist movies... Thief Rififi The Town |

One of my all time favourite movies. As good as Scarface is, this eclipses it in every way:

I'm partial to THE ST. VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE, just released by Twilight Time.
