Sony - 800W 5.1-Channel Home Theater System

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1166840609889

Bestbuy.com customers give it good reviews, but what do you guys think? Is it worth $150? Or is it a total piece of shit?

Default no offense

is it for the bedroom or bathroom? I would not hook a blu ray to this. If the speaker system is cheaper than the disc player there are issues.

Default intro machine

This is strickly an introduction sound system. It is better than many of those all in one systems that sell for under $200. It is strickly 5.1, don't be fooled by the wattage it say 133w per speaker but it might not be that powerful or quality. This is a low current reciever so it will only put out full capacity when cranked all the way and by that time the audio quality is usually sacrificed.

These systems are for people who want sound but can't afford anything else or just get one becase everyone else has a sound system and they do not want to be left out.

There is nothing wrong with those speakers. I have a similar one like that and it work fine in my small room. It produce nice sounds for blu-ray and PS 3 games. I mean it dose its job for around $200. How loud can u be in a small room. Its for people want a reasonable surround sounds in a small room without pay alot money and yet can by more movies or games with the money u saved. I personally would not recommand in the living room tho. I prob get something nicer if its the main home theater set up system.

very true but the way i look at it is why even watch a blu ray if your not gonna get the lossless audio and the sound isnt just about how loud u can get it its about the quality some of the best movies are jsut the regular soundtrack not big shit blowing up simple things like rain sound amazing wit h good quality speaks and the right reciever

I figured I'd throw in my two cents since I basically own the same model. I'm a poor college student and can't afford a setup that is ideal for viewing blu-ray. However, for the money it is a good system. I have a very tiny bedroom, and it works quite effectively.

If you've never had a sound system before you are going to love it because it is going to enrich the experience that much more.

Again, it isn't the top of the line in audio, and not really close to it. But, if you've never had a surround sound system, it's worth it for the money, and after 2 years or so you can save up some money and invest in a setup that will give you better audio.
