Default Can we have an "auto-blocker"

I keep seeying posts that simply say, "+1".

What the heck does this add to the discussion at all? They could at least say "I agree with you" or something along those lines. Is there a way to automaticaly deny any post that just states "+1"? I know if there is an all caps post it changes to lowercase. Just a thought. It's cluttering, annoying and I think some people do it just to add posts to their profile to raise their count.

and nobody be an ass and post "+1" to this

But on a serious note. How would "I agree" be any different? Or any other form of "I agree" or "+1" or "Amen to that"? They all mean the same, and wouldn't any longer form of "+1" actually add to the clutter that you're complaining about?

If we were to censor anything that we feel is irrelevant. Then I'm sure some of your past threads would've fit the criteria. No offense Peach, but seriously what did your "What should I eat for lunch" poll have to do with Blu-ray? I believe irrelevant threads like that cause much more clutter than +1's ever could.

but it was in the appropriate "off topic" forum. Which by definition is a forum for anything irrelevant to blu-ray or other categories. There's superbowl thread in there, people asking for disney rewards points. If you want to +1, make an entire thread for it in there I could care less

and you've now made 3/4 posts on here other than mine. come on.

I was just offering feedback on your concerns, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean you have to lash out. Sounds to me like you just need something to gripe about. Maybe your request should've been for a support group forum for people having a bad day. Cheer up Peech, don't let the small stuff get to you

it's just, If you go through some of the larger threads, theres literally 40 or 50 "+1" posts. It gets repetetive while trying to read through

I understand, but if we were to get rid of everything that bothers each and every one of us, then we probably wouldn't have very much going on in here. If you pay close attention you'll notice that at least 80% of posts in here break at least one of the forum rules, even some that are posted by mods do. There's no way to have an absolutely perfect forum. Just ignore the stuff that bothers you unless it's something that you absolutely feel is out of line, then just alert the mods if you feel truly offended by something. But you have to admit that the +1 thing isn't really such a huge deal.

You know, I'm sure there's a vBulletin mod somewhere that enforces a minimum character limit for posts. Though I'm sure people would just get around that by adding a gajillion exclamation marks...

But yes, I fully agree on the fluff posts - they're incredibly annoying. Thing is, they're also hard to maintain... it's bound to be a chronic problem, especially on a forum as large as this.
