Thanks! I was just about to post some news here.
Cool cinematic trailer for a new Blade video game. Bethesda though, which means it's PC and XBox exclusive? Quote:

I have a PC that will hopefully be able to play this by 2025 or whenever it's ready. The film is now set for 2025 instead of the original November 2023, before all of the major set backs. I wonder if this Blade game announcement was going to coincide with the original movie release. Blade on PS1, controls really clumsily, in a 3rd person view. Blade 2, on PS2, I never got to play. It had the player using the analog sticks to determine which attack Blade was using. Up for punches, down for kicks, or something like that I read. It got okay reviews. Blade 1 and 2, great action horror movies IMO. Way back in 1998 and 2002. Long before Iron Man in 2008 and the other Marvel films since. Not a fan of Blade Trinity in 2004 and the Blade TV series mostly about everyone else but Blade himself... |

Surprisingly, the trailer text confirms both single player focus AND 3rd person view for Blade the game on PC, XBSX (PS5 probably excluded so MS can have their own Marvel exclusive game). That's a big plus. I want to see Blade onscreen fighting. First person would've been a total loss in my book.

Those who are saying this won't come to PS5, don't be so sure. It depends on when the deal was struck. From 2022 going forward, Marvel is obligating any studio who wishes to create a game base on their characters to make it available across all platforms. Considering that Bethesda/Arkane confirmed that development JUST started on this project and we probably won't see it until the start of next generation, I'd say odds are high this will be available everywhere.
Also consider the words from MS CFO Tim Stuart regarding multiplatform strategy... Quote:

It would be extremely dumb for this to stay off Playstation.

I checked out the trailer on YouTube a bit ago, and tbh i didn't feel grabbed by the chosen art style. Some might say it's a touch similar to Into the Spiderverse and whatnot, as well as a little more comic inspired but it just doesn't hit right for me.
Blade also getting a fresh cut didn't click for me until the guy put his clothes and weapons on. I genuinely thought it was like a gangster guy that Blade was probably tailing as a "Familiar". |

Yeah there's no Xbox or Gamepass labelling anywhere. As it's Marvel there could be some Disney clause going on now that means the licensing of the properties is on the condition of going multi-platform as opposed exclusive.
Hope it turns out decent... probably 2 or more years off at this point. |

I wonder if Paris is going to be fully open for Blade to explore on foot and by his muscle car and motorcycle. That would be cool. But even if it's a linear game, I'll support this as a Blade fan.
From the trailer, this game looks really, really early in development. No release date estimate or anything but a cutscene CGI trailer. When he puts on the trenchcoat and has the sword on his back instead of in a sheath at his side, that is definitely taking notes from the classic Snipes Blade film thankfully. I haven't read the comics, original or newer versions. Quote:

Sony kept Marvel's Spider-Man games exclusive to PS5, PS4 and eventually PC. Though I think there's a way XBSX can play PC games too through Steam. |

If development on the Blade game just got started in late 2023, then I'll expect some news by late 2025 for the release. Hopefully no more than 2 years to complete it. By then, I don't expect a PS6 to be announced, but more like 2030. The economy is not ready for another new console IMO, now December 2023, with Hasbro laying off 1200 workers, nevermind the mass layoffs at Google, Amazon, Netflix, Twitter and other big studios/offices, and more common jobs too, with franchises going out of business like Christmas Tree Shops for example in 2023.
Late 2025 is also when the new Blade movie should be in theaters by some miracle at this point with all of the set backs, fired director and writer/actor strikes... If Marvel did say they want any games started from 2022 onward to be available to all platforms, and yet this is being developed by Microsoft Studios, then I'd have to ask, has Microsoft Studios ever released a game for all platforms including the Playstation? I'm going to guess not yet. Last edited by Zivouhr; 12-14-2023 at 03:54 AM. |

https://twitter.com/klobrille/status...AvHts11pgk6LaA As far as other games from Microsoft, the best example is Minecraft being available on every platform. It seems any other established game (as in games that were announced/released multi platform before a dev was acquired) Microsoft is continuing to support the games on those platforms. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens here. |
