Default PS3 Question

So I have a question. My Samsung BDP-1000 broke down and won't play Blu-rays anymore (I've tried updating and everything). In a few weeks I'll probably get a PS3. My question is about it's storage capabilities.

I know it can have like music and stuff on it but can I do this?:
Download videos in AVI, MPEG, and/or MOV format on my computer, send them to the PS3 and watch them off my TV?

I am a little confused by your question... do you mean "how can you do this?" or "is it legal to do this?".

The answer to the first involves streaming it from your PC which involves some configuration on both the PS3 and your computer.

The answer to the second is as long as the owner allows you to access it and save it without establishing ownership privileges then yes why not. As far as copyrighted material obtained questionably/illegally then that answers itself.

avi/divx will work(not older xvid encoded movies tho) mpeg-2 yes mpeg-4 yes h.246 mov. is mpeg-4 or h.246 and u can put them on a storage device(such as flash stick of ipod/mp3 player) but u could stream any format to ps3 so it works using tversity
