Unless KLI is being cheeky again and they have it, I think Arrow could possibly go for it in their new Paramount deal.

Wow… if “Little Darlings” can green lit, maybe “Looking for Mr.
Goodbar” can too!

I don’t think it could be Criterion because I don’t think Kino Lorber Insider would say with certainty that it’s coming in 2023 given Criterion’s history of sitting on movies for many years. Maybe it’s coming from Paramount themselves? Would Paramount pay six figures to clear the music for a physical release and then license it out?

I do hope it is a boutique label because I think it’s the only way we have a chance of getting the TV version. The TV version has deleted scenes, uses alternate takes, and has some ridiculous editing.

I will use a spoiler tag for the rest of this post because I will spoil the funniest scene in the movie while discussing the TV version.

[Show spoiler]Deleted Scenes
For example, if you’ve seen the original trailer, it ends with footage of the girls exhausted and walking on a road. If you haven’t seen the TV version, you’re probably wondering where this footage is from. In the TV version, we find out the bus ran out of gas and they had to walk back to the camp. This was cut from the theatrical version.

Alternate Takes
For example, in the TV version, in the opening scene when Kristy McNichol kicks the boy in the groin, it’s an alternate take with the camera behind Kristy. In the theatrical version, it’s a different take with the camera at her side.

Ridiculous Editing
For example, the TV version edits out the condom vending machine they steal.

I hope whoever releases the blu-ray gets an interview with Krista Errickson. She’s active on Facebook and has been hoping the movie would get a blu-ray release. I would think it wouldn’t be too hard to get an interview with her.

Could be Shout, couldn't it? It seems right up their alley.

Also, Arrow, who have a Paramount deal.

It would be nice but unfortunately, Looking for Mr. Goodbar is being delayed for a DVD or blu-ray release due to copyright issues for the music in the movie.

One of my faves growing up. A young Matt Dillon was a crush and Armand Assante was hot.

Paramount have been in a limbo about obtaining the copyrights to the songs in the soundtrack for years, that's preventing them to release it on DVD.

Probably Arrow since they recently announced Black Sunday from their Paramount deal. Shout hasn't released any Paramount's in a while and Criterion only announced Romeo and Juliette, which was the only Paramount Criterion didn't loose as they had sat on it for years.

I made the mistake of buying the Australian DVD and it was pretty much unwatchable so I am so glad this will be coming out on blu-ray.
