Damn. I just bought this movie 2 nights ago!

I only paid 6 bucks for it and so I'll probably buy this edition also.

Yes. A near bare bones release. It's a really good film though. Ives is great and Jean Simmons was beautiful in it. Conners amusing also. Totally different from his character from The Rifleman.

Unless this is a new 4K master I will stick with the original MGM release especially since it has the original audio.

Wasn't there an issue with the MGM going too far with unsqueezing the anamorphic image resulting in a bit of a stretched look?

If it is an issue it must be extremely minor, brief, or both.

Yeah, I don't think there was any resolution either. I remember Harris was looking into it but I don't remember if he had any final thoughts/confirmation. Maybe someone else knows.

The extras here are great, and probably worth a double dip. I have the exclusive Wal-Mart release from a couple years back which is a pretty nice transfer except for problems in the dark/night scenes. They suffered from strobing and possibly macroblocking which made those scenes difficult to watch. If KL's release is a new transfer or authoring, I am in. Maybe not if the same transfer from the Wal-Mart exclusive is used. MisterLime?

This one is screaming for an isolated score, seeing as how it's one of the best ever written for a Western.

Been a while since I've watched the MGM disc, but I remember the transfer being pretty darn solid (any stretching notwithstanding).

That does look stretched. Hopefully that's fixed on this release.
