Default Help with 1080p TV

I just bought a new Westinghouse - 47" 1080p LCD Flat-Panel HDTV from Best buy BUT!!!! when I put my PS3 to watch a blu ray movies on it and the tv says that I am watching it in 1080i.

I am using HDMI cables. Is this normal? Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

Were your last setting set for a tv that was 1080i? I assume you would have gone into setting to change this but just incase you haven't you can try that.

On your PS-3 go to Settings=>Display Settings=>Video Output Settings=>HDMI=>Automatic=>Accept 1080p setting=>Save.

are you sure it's a TV that displays 1080p, instead of one that accepts 1080p and downconverts it to something else?

edit: never mind, i checked the specs on BB's page. sure looks like it's native 1080p.

try the above suggestions then. was 1080p included in the list of resolutions when the ps3 autodetected resolutions via HDMI?
