Default Apple TV 2.0 Review

Again, Blu-ray provides the best picture and sound quality one can currently get... so, count me out of being at all interested in this.

Aside from the 30 days to start and 24 hours to finish restrictions... this stood out(they even bolded part of it):

"If we had to scale the HD movie picture quality of HD on a scale where Blu-ray is a 10, HD cable is a 7 and VHS is a 1, this would be about a 5. It's better than DVD, but it's not "true" HD. Oh, and their 5.1 audio doesn't sound as good either. It's good enough to watch and think you're watching HD, but it's not quite good enough for true HD movie fans."

Another snippet that will probably get talked down:

"After you accept the EULA, your Apple TV buffers for about a minute before you can start watching; longer if your connection sucks."

Not everyone has 6mbps or higher connections.
A total niche product here.
No real competition for rental services or B&M shops.

Renting from Netflix is better in that you have the disc itself, better PQ, and you can watch it for as long as you wish!

Eh . . . good idea. If it was Blu-ray quality I'd be all over it. It would replace my Netflix in about two seconds.

I hope you realize that Apple TV does much more than just movies.

So according to that reviewer, hi def on Apple TV is only half as good as Blu-ray. But at $230 a player it costs around three quarters of the price of a BD standalone. So Blu-ray is better quality and better value for money than hi-def Apple TV.

That, and HD cable is 2 clicks better.
