Default Would Warner Have Gone Blu, Without Paramount going Red

Just wanna see what people think on this loaded question.

Did Paramount light a fire under the BDA that resulted in them heavily courting WB?

or

Did WB truly feel that two formats would never work from the beginning and was simply waiting for the right time to end their neutrality (1/4).

Please note: if you think they would have gone blu, do you think they would have gone blu so quickly.
