Default Not impressed with PQ on my Warner titles

About two weeks ago I was mailed three of my free movies with the Blu-ray player that was purchased. Two of these (which I selected) were Warner titles and I find both of them to be rather poor Blu-ray discs. (The movies are Superman Returns and TMNT.)
The first thing that struck me as strange was that the movie played right away without going to a menu system. I personally prefer viewing the menu to set up the audio track if there is a better audio track to select than the default. Then when I actually pressed the button on my remote to view the menu system, it was completely cluttered with all the selections in the disc on one screen.
The other movie was the same way. Why would they choose to do this? It seems like they weren't thoroughly planned out.

Other than minor technical issues about the disc itself, which I could forgive; in both movies I have noticed what I have read others refer to as "color banding." The best way for me to describe this is that it looks like the difference in color bit depths. Or actually, just look up at the top of the Blu-ray forum at the banner and see how the colors don't blend together, it looks exactly like that.
I noticed this at the beginning of TMNT in the sky, and in the underwater scenes in Superman Returns.

Is this the way that all Warner titles are, or just these two?
