Default Does anyone use their TV Tuner or TV Speakers?

I've never used mine once. Does anyone actually use theirs? And why?

I know Pioneer used to offer some sets without a Tuner and Speakers. I wish more offered this, as a lot of us spend the extra $$$ for expensive useless features.

Yes & Yes
I am using my TOA tuner now with the tv speakers, do I need the surround sound for the People's Court ??

I just use my reciever when watching a moive & sometimes not always then, when it is 1am I don't want the surround sound On. If it is summer time & it is 105 outside & 80 inside, I don't want to add to the heat

Yes and Yes, largely for the reasons stated just above.

My HD backup is an attic antenna run through my 60XBR2's digital tuner, which I recall cnet.com correctly raving about as being one of the very best available anywhere. The PQ is every bit as good as that from the cable company and the on screen interface with the Sony is actually better.

And as for sound, ditto for watching 70's sitcoms or People's Court with the TV's infamous bat-wing speakers (which actually have good stereo seperation ) They're more than adequate for most regular (non-movie) programming.

That's just me.

Speakers yes - for my sat box and when i occassionally watch an old video, they are only connected by stereo analog outs anyway, so why waste the electricity and wear and tear on the receiver

i need a new optical cable for the sat box before anyone asks and i'm not sure that i want to invest in one now when i will be getting sky HD next year

Never, I disconnected them actually cause they make an annoying buzzing sound unless muted...just like MacDaddy I spent a bunch of money on a nice setup and I'm going to use it.

Yes, I use both. I use the TV tuner for viewing split-screen, and when I do, I must use the TV speakers, because my remote control does not have a mute button for the receiver.

My roommates do cause they still don't know how to turn a receiver on. I come home to an echo almost everyday from both being on.

I use OTA (Over the Air antenna) for my HD.

From what I understand, isn't the quality much better since some of the cable companies compress? That is my understanding.

I use Over the Air antenna for my backup HD channels since Dish Network does not Have Fox HD as a satellite channel in the Sacramento Area. I also get several additional channels including weather over my OTA antenna. As for the TV speakers I use them for SD programming or when their is no surround or 5.1 programming. (Primarily when the kids are using the TV). If you want to see what channels are in your area for HD OTA try this link:

I use my TV's tuner for OTA. I mostly watch local channels anyways.
I rarely use my TV's speaker, except when playing the wii. I just haven't hooked it to the receiver yet. That will happen soon, though, as I hate hearing an echo when I forget to turn the TV volume down after playing.

Rarely. I've occasionally used the tuner so I could split screen and watch two football games at a time. One feed is coming from DirecTV while the other is digital broadcast via an antenna.

I've almost never used the speakers on the TV unless I swap to that game on the split screen (and I have to mute my dish going through the receiver.)

Yes and Yes

Canceled our tv cable box, since we never watch, so right now I am catching 1 local channel for news.
I need to use the speakers when I watch something after 11pm... living in an old apartment building and that 70 years old guy below us might get a heart attack when I turn up the stereo watching Black Hawk Down... sometimes I do hook up some headphones if it's a movie the wife does not want to watch at all... Hills Have Eyes, Hostel etc... and those Sennheiser sound better than the build in tv speakers!
