Default No Country for Old Men (SPOILERS)

YES...I SAID SPOILERS ARE HERE SO DON'T COMPLAIN

alright....I was wondering if I saw a shotty version of the movie or something, but did anyone else find it strange that there was no confrontation between the main character and the crazy guy?...

the main character (I obviously forget his name in the movie and in RL)...is just found dead after a gunshot sound and a scream...I mean how could they build up such a great movie and have no confrontation scene between the 2?...

unless I am mistaken and there was a confrontation, could anyone enlighten me?....the movie was outstanding otherwise BTW...

I mean people complained about the 3:10 to Yuma ending, but I thought the ending was great....yet nobody has said a peep about this ending, so I am assuming I saw a shotty version of the film?

again...your thoughts?

You mistook the point of the film. It's not a shoot 'em up action flick. It's a no matter what you do, sh*t happens flick

no..I didn't mistake anything about the film...

I am extremely open minded with films...I even enjoyed Mulholland Dr. for what it was and NOBODY seems to like that movie...

I enjoy movies for what they are...but when he was just found lying there, I wondered if my mind fast forwarded past what was the most anticipated part of the movie...

The main character isn't the main character.

The book makes that point much better than the movie.

oh it's a great flick and I find myself defending it against people who have made my argument...

I was just hoping that I saw a bad version of the film and I won't mention how I watched it... ...this is why I asked the question

I'll still buy it on Blu...but I will say these people do have a point when it was the most anticipated part of the film and it was almost like they forgot to add it...

you are correct :sigh: people are dissecting the most insignificant parts of my post...

but he is the "featured" character...the one we see the most...

maybe I just worded it wrong?

I'm not looking for an explanation....I was just hoping I saw a umm....chopped version of the unethical way to watch a movie

but apparently I saw the real thing...

Well then I guess I mistook you referring to the wrong character as the main character for mistaking the point of the film

Josh Brolin was not the main character, and I myself did not realize that untill the last part of the movie. And from you incorrectly referring to Josh Brolin as the main character somehow made me think you made the same mistake, but apparently I was wrong in assuming that

Edit: I also notice that "it appears as if" you think Javier Bardem had something to do with JB's death. Well I do believe it was that group of mexicans that did it. The chica lured him to her room for drinks, and right before that it showed the mexican guy tricking JB's location out of his mother in-law

no, he was the most featured character...

there was no "main character" in the true sense...but he was the most featured character....

I mean he was clearly the most featured character in the story...

it's not like saying any particular character was a "main character" in a movie such as say...Pulp Fiction...

this movie clearly featured Josh Brolin...and the fact that they even teased a showdown between him and the crazy guy made me expect it...

it's been awhile since I watched a movie and said "HUH?" at the end....but I did when I saw this one....not taking anything away from the movie because I am not one of the Blu supporters that buy up every movie as I have had a PS3 for a year now and don't even have 50 Blu's...but I am definitely buying this one..

It's not the movie that was chopped up. The book did the very same thing. I kept thinking, no. It's a setup. Nothing here is what it seems. But then I kept reading and sure 'nuff, Moss was pushing daisies. I was bummed too, but it was all for artistic vision. I for one hated the movie. The book was way better.

P.S. I think the term you're thinking of is 'Protagonist'. Sherriff Bell was the protagonist in this story.

I figured it was for artistic vision...but things like that are better portrayed in books...

it seemed like they built the whole movie around their showdown....mostly because they showed him killing everyone else he killed except for 1 person I think....

but why show them having a showdown and him getting away...and then have a showdown but not have it shown?..

I mean..I know I just asked the question....yet..I GET IT.....it still doesn't translate well on picture and that type of ending translates better in the book than on film....

I have never seen that one...

I had to watch Mulholland Dr. twice to get it as well as Fight Club...

well, FC being viewed twice had more to do with me wanting to witness all the instances of where his split personality was there but appeared as if there were two and when I re-watched it...it made the film even more genuine than the 1st time...

The movie was about society, and the degradation of values and morals.
The characters were representations of good, evil, and those in between.

This is how I saw it go down.
The one mexican guy tricked the location of JB from his mom-in-law, then the chica asks JB to have some drinks, then TLJ is driving to meet JB and a truck with a bunch of mexicans is haulin' ass out of the motel parkin lot and TLJ goes in to find JB dead. am I missing something?

The Mexicans killed Brolin, The sheriff is the main guy of the story.

There is a semi showdown between Borlin/Bardem, when Brolin injures Bardem.

This Movie is one of my favorites of all times. Pre ordered!
