Default Center Channel Speaker

Looking to upgrade my Energy Take Classic center speaker to a Polk CS-10. Is this a good upgrade to make? Will there be enough difference to justify the price of the speaker? Will it match well with the other Energy speakers? Thanks!

I have a Pioneer VSX810h (I think) receiver.

Way i see it, this decision depends on what you want for the future. If you plan on switching to Polk, then you could slowly do that, but i wouldnt start with the center, id start with the mains, then the center. If all your looking to do is upgrade the center then get a better Energy center.

+1. Plus, the CS1 is a decent starting center. But if you're looking for an upgrade or a longer term solution, the CS2 is a much better option. But, like sinister said, the Polks and Energy are very different speakers and shouldn't be matched. Either upgrade to a bigger Energy center or you'll be upgrading the mains along with the center if you go with Polk.

I would agree with the previous posters as well. But in the end the decision is based on your future plans and your needs. I have an extremely mismatched system myself, and it has never bothered me too much. One day I'd like to match it all up though. Klipsch Cornwalls L/R, Yamaha center channel from a 5.1 pack, and Niles built in surrounds. But I'm happy with it, and that's what matters. Also, if you are a DIY kind of person you'd be surprised what you can do with an existing speaker box and some new drivers and crossovers, but that's another subject all together.
