Synopsis:

The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The arranged marriage of Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), who have two children – 13-year-old Paige (Holly Taylor) and 10-year-old Henry (Keidrich Sellati), who know nothing about their parents’ true identity – grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. Complicating their relationship further is Philip’s growing sense of affinity for America’s values and way of life. Tensions also heighten upon the arrival of a new neighbor, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), an FBI agent. Stan and his partner, Agent Chris Amador (Maximiliano Hernández), are members of a new division of Counterintelligence tasked with fighting against foreign agents on U.S. soil, including KGB Directorate S illegals, Russian spies posing as Americans.

DVR is already set to go on this show, I think if done right this could be a very good show especially with the amount of historic material they have that they can use just due to the time period. Since most of us lived through this era it may hit close to home for some people.

Still haven't decided if I'm going to give this a shot since I already watch a ton of shows, but it does look like it could have some potential. Wouldn't surprise me if I ended up at least watching the Pilot.

DVR it and watch it when you have time that's what DVR is for, I mean hell I have 3 shows I watch Wednesdays already and this adds another for me.

I'm very much looking forward to this.

My wife and I are just finishing up Friends on blu, so we need a new show to watch before bed and, because of this show, we might go back and start up with Felicity again.

After seeing Waitress, I really thought Keri Russell would have done better in movies or television again. She's even better looking now than she was 13 years ago.

I know. I meant the amount of shows I watch when taking into account TV and Blu-ray. There's a lot. Still, I do have the time tonight, so I might just watch it instead of recording it.

Edit: Scratch that. I didn't realize it was 1 hour and 37 minutes long until just now. I'll just record it and watch it tomorrow.

I'm going to watch the first few episode, but my hopes aren't very high. Keri Russell isn't someone I think can carry a role that requires a lot of serious acting.

I was wondering when the inevitable comparison was finally going to come in here.

I haven't seen that much of what Keri Russell has been in, so I can't really give my opinion on her acting ability. Maybe she'll surprise some people. I had seen very little of what Claire Danes was in as well and she blew me away in the first season of Homeland. Figured I'd mention that given that the comparison between the two shows has now been made.

Claire Danes is an enormously talented actress. Her performance in Homeland is not a surprise. Keri Russell has yet to show anything near that kind of talent.

Keri Russell is a very beautiful woman and nothing would make me happier than if Criterion actually did release Waitress. It's one of my favorite films.

It's been on my Wishlist for months.

That pilot was great, and the basebeat song they had playing for the first five minutes or so was catchy lol
