Aww..how sweet!

I do think having Toshiba and Microsoft backing Blu-ray could not hurt anything and possibly do a better job at promoting Blu-ray over DVD. Afterall it would be extra promotional and supportive resources for the BDA and us consumers.

at this point in the game it looks like there is no need for it. Toshiba would only bury itself if it were to try to pursue this any further

Plus, they could potentially make good players/burners and software.
Heck, a BD player on the 360 would be a huge success for getting 360 HD DVD fans to go Blu.

Yeah, the more companies that support BD the better it is.
